Having no family here I use this as a way to keep my family and friends informed as to what we, my husband, daughter, and dog are up to.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.comBlogger371125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-6174651797739596282008-12-01T08:00:00.003-07:002008-12-01T08:20:03.295-07:00Sunday Scribblings #24I know I'm late with this one but I was a little distracted with baking this weekend, lol. This weeks prompt is "A Winter's Tale".

Now I am not a big fan of cold, snow or Winter but winter in Arizona is bearable for me. We don't really get snow here even though we are in the mountains but the wind is what gets you every time, at least that's how I feel. I am a cold loving person, unlike my daughter who, as you can see from this picture, loved playing in the snow at my mother's house last year.

Now hubby on the hand can handle the snow. He grew up in Idaho where it really snows, you know where you have snow days from school, have to actually dig your car out of the snow to get to work. That's not for me. I am from California, the Bay Area to be exact, where it doesn't snow. It rains, flood days are the norm there. But since we live in an area that doesn't do snow and we don't have to worry about it really I think we will stay.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-52265603856507877242008-11-30T09:19:00.003-07:002008-11-30T09:27:45.654-07:00Animal CommericalsI love animal commercials. You know the ones where it's all about the dog/cat/bird and it's cute like this one for Black & Decker

or this one

But this one I don't really get or find it funny. After reading on several different blogs about Black Friday and Buy Nothing Day I was determined not to leave the house. But I know that is not realistic with a 4yr and a dog. But I wasn't taking money with me or my purse. I made sure that on my last run to the store that we had enough fruits to last until Sat. I didn't want to go out for anything like that. There is no way that I am going to drive to a store 45 minutes away at 3am to buy something that will be in the coming weeks. There is nothing I need that bad. The only time I would drive that far at that time if night is if Savie was sick and needed some meds or something. But to all of you that braved the world that early here's a video for you.

Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-54973524900339044452008-11-25T18:24:00.004-07:002008-11-25T23:05:45.520-07:00What?!?!?!?I am not one to get on a high horse or get overly political but there are some things I am passionate about. One of those things is animal rights. I've been keeping an eye on the whole Vick situation on FaceBook and in the news when they think to bring it up. This morning I was reading my local paper and saw this article. I was pissed. I seriously hope that when he was writing this he thought he was being funny but there is nothing funny about this. It's not some party antidote. It's real and it's a problem.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-5496342704426807532008-11-16T00:59:00.004-07:002008-11-16T01:14:19.717-07:00Some people don't thinkHave you seen this ad? I was over at Crunchy's Blog and saw the post about it I headed over to check it out myself. I was, and still are a little, pissed off about it. This is beyond rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, and so many other things that I can't think of right now. How can something that is so nice to do, a great way t bond with your baby be turned into something so crude?

I won't buying any of these products.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-83422217460512102202008-11-14T22:20:00.003-07:002008-11-14T22:32:34.028-07:00Catch up FridayI know, not really a good title but it will have to do. I am a little tired so forgive me. I have been trying to meal plan for the week. Some weeks it works, some weeks it doesn't. I really want to to have a plan for the week but it's a little hard when hubby doesn't tell me what he's doing for the week( i.e. deer camp, working out of town for the week, etc) so I can plan accordingly. I try to make a pizza on Friday. It's fast, simple, and good. I thought I had extra pizza crust in the fridge but I didn't but I knew I had a couple of other things. I finally decided to try and make this but they didn't quite come out the way the recipe said but they were still good. I will definitely make these again just not the same way.

How was your Friday? What did you do?Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-24854003145793875052008-11-05T23:50:00.002-07:002008-11-05T23:52:45.303-07:00Guess what???Today was my 3yr anniversary. But the good question is, did he remember?

No and that is what I expected. I'm not worried about it since Savie's birthday is on Friday and I have to get that worked out and also something for the local cake auction. Wish me luck.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-1532690668443508372008-11-05T11:40:00.003-07:002008-11-05T12:16:38.476-07:00Do a little dance......I am dancing over here. I am so happy that Obama won the election, even if all the votes aren't counted yet. This is still a historical, and personal, day for the country. There are plenty of people out there that are happy and then there are a lot that are pissed for whatever reason. I don't know everyone so I am not going speculate as to why they voted the way they did. I took Savie with me to drop off my ballot and she was interested in what was going on on. I let her give them my ballot and she got her sticker that said she voted and she was very proud of herself. While we were out shopping she had to show everyone her sticker and try to say "Obama". It was very cute. I am very proud of her.

But then I am sad. There was a proposition here in AZ that I don't agree with. I'm only going to go into a little detail on it because I don't want to offend anyone or get a bunch of emails/comments about it. It's Proposition 102 and it effectively bans same-sex marriage's here. Personally I have always felt that marriage is between 2 people not 3, I'm kinda surprised that some people didn't think of it that way, wanting it to be monogamous and all. (My attempt at humor on the subject). But this is a topic best left for another day.
Today is day that we need to come together and get behind our new President. Even Bush has so far.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-3623198950304317462008-11-02T23:06:00.000-07:002008-11-02T23:08:15.835-07:00I have something newI have another blog. I think I am going to move over to it because I am having problems with my blog here. But we will see.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-67280795655902102672008-10-27T21:34:00.002-07:002008-10-27T23:08:13.618-07:00Tackle It Tuesday #20I have finally gotten around to tackling this mess in my bedroom. It's all because of my friend giving me this book. But I am getting a little sidetracked.

In my bedroom I have a pile of clothes next to the hamper that is a mix of clean clothes, things I need to take care of and who knows what else. I got rid of a basket that I was using because things were still on the floor, mainly because they were overflowing the basket, lol. I really wanted a stacking shelve so things would be up off the floor, I could see what was there, etc. I bought a 4 tier rolling rack that is now in place and being used. Now I just need to remember to hang the clothes up when I'm done, lol.

What are you tackling this week?Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-28014131549722212202008-10-26T11:33:00.002-07:002008-10-26T11:38:33.097-07:00Happy HalloweenI have finally found a Halloween layout that works on my blog without losing a bunch of things, like comments, so enjoy.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-35195116823443032032008-10-24T23:42:00.003-07:002008-10-25T00:22:20.485-07:00This is a first....and I am not happyMost days we take the kids from school to the hospital cafeteria for lunch. Most of them haven't been sent to school with food so we buy for them as well as ourselves. Most days there is about 6 kids and then myself and the other teacher. The kids know that they need to stay at the table and eat their food. It's a small cafeteria so of course it gets loud fast and the kids are loud, of course. There have been a couple of times that they have run around the place but what do you expect for 3-5yrs old?

We try to go around 1 PM when we have fewer kids anyways. That's today. We had 6 kids, 1 that got picked up shortly after we got there. The place was pretty empty and as usual, the kids were good. I was told later that we have been asked not to come back to the cafeteria. I was pissed, annoyed, and offended to say the least. How can they do that? How can a public place ask us not to come and eat????? I was upset but the other teacher, who has lived here for 15 years and donated a lot of time to varies groups, was physically upset but it. I don't get it. What would you have done? I have never been asked not to come back to a place, I have stopped going to places because of the service/food/attitude/etc but it has never happened to me. I don't know what to do with myself.

Apparently there have been complaints about us. That the kids are out of control, they are loud, and run around. Yes they are loud just as loud as some of the adults in the room, and yes they have run around a few times, but that's kids for you. I am waiting for the letter saying that we are not to come back. I want to know what these people said, about which kids, days/times the whole nine yards. That is just crazy. I am pissed.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-43922077000593164282008-10-24T18:14:00.003-07:002008-10-24T18:25:36.562-07:00I am to nice......the updateSo after a week I am over my anger at "X". Well not so much anger as annoyance. I never got the key, had to buy another bag of food for the dogs because even though I fed them, as instructed, there was not enough food with the money she gave me for them. I ruined a pair of tennis shoes climbing in and out of the window, probably could stand to get a new jacket since I used that to help me get in/out, and my arms were sore all week.

"X" is always trying to get me to stay over, even when I am just dropping something off and don't turn my engine off. You would think that would be a hint that I am in a hurry. I don't want to stay there for more then a few minutes. When I was house sitting I left windows open so there could be some fresh air in there and it was so much better just in the first day. I would think that yo would realize just how bad the smell is when you have to burn incense and have 2 air fresheners in every room just to cover the smell (and I do mean cover).

Have I talked to "X"? Nope don't want to. Did I get thanked? Yes but not like I would have like to have been. Will I do it again? Probably not, since I am a sucker for animals.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-87328508763014307892008-10-21T21:59:00.000-07:002008-10-21T22:01:16.829-07:00A few changesPlease bear with me. Something I've done to my layout has turned the comments feature off (again) so there will be some changes in my blog. So please bear with me on this.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-88352814480326258432008-10-18T20:46:00.003-07:002008-10-24T18:13:08.133-07:00I am to nice...part 2If you read this post you will understand why I have no desire/want/need to go over to this persons house. any time soon. I just don't want to. After having to go thru everything that I went thru I don't want to go over there. Let alone talk to this person. I jut don't want to. I am sore, dirty, annoyed, and the smell is just horrible. I understand that everyone has different views on their animals and whatnot but some of this is just down right crazy. This person, who I will refer to as X, told me earlier this week that if I wanted to spend the night or hang out for most of the day that was fine. NOT. IN. THIS. LIFETIME. There is nothing about the place that makes me want to stay there. I did what I needed to do and left. The only reason I stayed for an hour this morning was because I needed to empty the cat boxes. Otherwise I would have left. I don't want to go into details but I will say this.

If you don't open windows your house will smell.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-54672821458475673002008-10-16T22:40:00.002-07:002008-10-16T23:09:22.046-07:00I am to niceI really am, I think. A friend went out of town for a few days and asked me if I would be so nice (ha ha) as to house/fur baby sit for her. I said sure, I've been over to her house enough time that it wasn't a big deal. i know all of the animals (yes I said all of them) and their personalities. And of course I asked her to write everything down, you know how much each animals gets feed, when, who needs to be let out, meds if any, etc. And of course keys. Well she did all of that, came over and gave me keys and left me a list at her house for their care. When I went over the first night, afternoon really, to feed and water everyone only to find out...wait for it.....that the one of the keys didn't work. I called her several times but got no answer because of the area she is in. I finally had to just not get in that night. When I finally got a hold of her, the next morning, she realized that she had given me the wrong key!!!!! So I had a choice, brake the door or find a window.

Once I was in (don't ask me how) I had to move things around( in a small space) so I could bring some bags in, then bring Savie in. It was not a good day. She was not happy, I was sore and hot. There was just no getting around it. I don't understand why you would leave for a couple of days and not take out the garbage and wash all of your dishes. I can't go to the mountains for the weekend without doing that. I don't want to come home to the smell of garbage going bad or the see all those dishes in the sink. It's just crazy. I can't feed some of the animals because their bowls are dirty and in the sink!!!!!!! So twice today I've washed dishes (I know that I don't need to but it bugs me) plus it cuts down on the flies. Trust me, doing something like this is minor in this house. There are so many things wrong in this house that I am not going to get started on it.

So here's the deal, I am hurting myself getting into her house to take care of everyone but that should end on Friday when the key gets here!! Lets hope that it's the right one. Then I can clean the animals up, let some out, and get some fresh air in. I am way to nice.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-11044845699577056352008-10-15T22:16:00.001-07:002008-10-15T22:19:29.149-07:00a quickie

my back hurts

my head hurts

I'm tired of climbing thru windows

my arm is hurting from where Savie hit me

good nightKishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-80532412071769274972008-10-14T21:49:00.002-07:002008-10-14T21:57:00.060-07:00The things on TVI love watching TV. Not to the point where I just want ot sit in front of the tube all day and every day just to watch it. It's something to take my mind of the troubles of the worlds. Now I never watched this show so I don't know anything about it. Now I'm thinking that this show will be a lot like it.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-68518836616858137532008-10-14T07:26:00.002-07:002008-10-14T07:30:15.928-07:00The things I get in emails

The things my friend sends me is usually something that I already knew, true not to this length but still who doesn't know that MSG and phrases like "Natural Flavoring" are bad? I've told her several times that we don't et this or that because it is so processed but she insists that is's ok to eat it, even if it is every now and then. Please have some respect for what I want in my child just like I have for her dogs.

MSG Dangers-------They knew !!!

Gee...how unsurprising that THEY KNEW!

---

MSG.

The food additive MSG (Mono-Sodium Glutamate) is a slow poison. MSG hides behind 25 or more names, such as 'Natural Flavoring.'

MSG is even in your favorite coffee from Tim Horton's and Starbucks coffee shops!

I wondered if there could be an actual chemical causing the massive obesity epidemic, and so did a friend of mine, John Erb. He was a research assistant at the University of Waterloo in Ontario , Canada , and spent years working for the government. He made an amazing discovery while going through scientific journals for a book he was writing called The Slow Poisoning of America.

In hundreds of studies around the world, scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies. No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so scientists have to create them. They make these creatures morbidly obese by injecting them with MSG when they are first born.

The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and perhaps humans) to become obese. They even have a name for the fat rodents they create: 'MSG-Treated Rats.'

When I heard this, I was shocked. I went into my kitchen and checked the cupboards and the refrigerator. MSG was in everything -- the Campbell 's soups, the Hostess Doritos, the Lays flavored potato chips, Top Ramen, Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper, Heinz canned gravy, Swanson frozen prepared meals, and Kraft salad dressings, especially the 'healthy low-fat' ones.

The items that didn't have MSG marked on the product label had something called 'Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein,' which is just another name for Monosodium Glutamate.

It was shocking to see just how many of the foods we feed our children everyday are filled with this stuff. MSG is hidden under many different names in order to fool those who read the ingredient list, so that they don't catch on. (Other names for MSG are 'Accent, 'Aginomoto,' 'Natural Meat Tenderizer,' etc.)

But it didn't stop there.

When our family went out to eat, we started asking at the restaurants what menu items contained MSG. Many employees, even the managers, swore they didn't use MSG. But when we ask for the ingredient list, which they grudgingly provided, sure enough, MSG and Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein were everywhere.

Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, every restaurant -- even the sit-down eateries like TGIF, Chili's, Applebee's, and Denny's -- use MSG in abundance. Kentucky Fried Chicken seemed to be the WORST offender: MSG was in every chicken dish, salad dressing. and gravy. No wonder I loved to eat that coating on the skin -- their secret spice was MSG!

So why is MSG in so many of the foods we eat? Is it a preservative, or a vitamin?

Not according to my friend John Erb. In his book The Slow Poisoning of America, he said that MSG is added to food for the addictive effect it has on the human body.

Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG explains that the reason they add it to food is to make people eat more.

A study of the elderly showed that older people eat more of the foods that it is added to. The Glutamate Association lobbying group says eating more is a benefit to the elderly, but what does it do to the rest of us?

'Betcha can't eat [just] one,' takes on a whole new meaning where MSG is concerned! And we wonder why the nation is overweight!

MSG manufacturers themselves admit that it addicts people to their products. It makes people choose their product over others, and makes people eat more of it than they would if MSG wasn't added.

Not only is MSG scientifically proven to cause obesity, it is an addictive substance. Since its introduction into the American food supply fifty years ago, MSG has been added in larger and larger doses to the pre-packaged meals, soups, snacks, and fast foods we are tempted to eat everyday.

Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-72605738291524930752008-10-13T22:19:00.004-07:002008-10-13T22:47:47.616-07:00I am going to hurt tomorrowSince it was my day off and I've been reading this book, I really wanted to get up and get some stuff done before I left the house. I really want us to stay on schedule, especially since we usually have a hard time getting out the door on time for school. So this morning before we left I swept and moped the hall and the bathroom, wiped down the toilet and washed one load of clothes. I put another load in to start washing while I walked Savie to school and then walked another mile to the bank with Halley. Great walk. It was a little chilly when we left for school but by the time I headed back to school it was nice and warm (really glad I didn't take a jacket). I stopped at school to see if Savie wanted to come home but it was almost lunch time so we headed to the hospital for lunch. After lunch I came home to get Max our new rabbit, to bring back to school to show the 3 kids that were there. But had an unfortunate thing happen on the way back to school. I don;t really want to talk about it but lets just say that the police had to be called and 2 dogs are on their way to the pound. I know my legs are going to hurt tomorrow so I hope that I can do ballet class tomorrow. Wish me luck.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-33387002096109537472008-10-12T11:59:00.003-07:002008-10-12T12:15:30.869-07:00I am not prefectI have never said, or thought, that anyone was perfect or had a prefect life. My thinking is when everything is prefect that's when it's over.

I think that some of the other moms that I spend time with (I think I've outgrown the phrase "hang out with") think that Savie is close to prefect. Not that they would ever day it but maybe it's me reading to much into their looks. Savie is by no means a prefect child. She has her days where she is clingy, whining, grumpy, rude, or just bad in a general way. Yesterday was one of those days. They happen. It's just a matter of how you deal with it, in my opinion. My thinking is how you react to a situation is how your child reacts to it as well. If you are clam and assertive, put on a brave front, then your child will have the confidence to do it. If you are upset and mad and angry, not happy about what is going on then they will act the same. I know it sounds weird but it's like dog training (I know it sounds kinda bad that way). But after watching a lot of Dog Whisperer, I've come to the conclusion that me being calm and going with the flow in most situations has helped Savie be confident.

We usually do stuff just the two of us when we are not at school and some of the other moms seemed surprised that she is, for example, ok about going on the rides at the fair by herself. We missed our friends so she really had no choice but she was fine with that. She has learned to make the best of her situation. Sure I would rather that she got to go on rides with a friend but you have to make do.

I started this post for a different reason but this will do. When I look at other families I know they are not prefect but they are having a prefect family moment.Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-78773864588082875732008-10-07T23:39:00.003-07:002008-10-07T23:49:32.034-07:00Heads Or TailsThis weeks H O T is Black or white, which i find funny since that's what my husband and I are. Friday all of us, yes I said all of us, went to the football game. Savie missed a good game because she fell asleep on daddy. I knew that would happen since he kept tying to make her sit down during the game, I don't make her do that because I know that when she stops playing she's going to crash on me. But that's ok, she got a good nights sleep in. I stayed and watch the Puma's pull the game out and come back to win.
It was a rough game and one player on the other team got thrown out of the game because of a flagrant foul, a face mask, he nearly pulled it off the poor kids head. After that it was ok, even though it looked like the couch came out to defend the kid.
Saturday was the Farmer's Market. It was a little slow that day and I had to hurry since we were planning on going out to Gleeson later in the day. Got a few things at the market then walked over to the football game for the little ones. I was going to watch a little bit of one game but ten we saw P so we stayed to watch him cheer. He's so cute, he's the only boy on the cheerleader team. I wish I could remember how old he is, I think he's 7 or 8 yr old. After watching the first half of the game Savie and I headed home so we could head out with hubby. It was a family trip, even Halley got to go, even if she did have to stay in the car the whole time. The place we went to had a couple of horses and burro's running loose (fun).

So that's my weekend, what did you do?Kishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16802360297311843488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3158329475176001665.post-15582576473718056872008-10-05T21:50:00.003-07:002008-10-05T22:09:51.637-07:00Sunday Scribblings #23This week's prompt is Forbidden.
