Guess what???

Today was my 3yr anniversary. But the good question is, did he remember?

No and that is what I expected. I'm not worried about it since Savie's birthday is on Friday and I have to get that worked out and also something for the local cake auction. Wish me luck.

I miss him

Now this is something that I don't say very often but I miss hubby. I love when he goes out of town, the house is a little cleaner, things are left where I left them, don't have to turn lights off after him, lol. But at night is when I miss him. Not because I want to cuddle with him or anything or the conversations that we have but because it makes me feel safer having him here. My neighborhood is a little out there, my neighbors are close but they don't seem to hear anything (maybe it's because they have their music up so loud all the time) so they don't really make me feel safe. This neighborhood is just so quiet but it also has a high illegal group coming thru here. And after the whole thing with Halley I really don't want to be outside or have anything to do with the outdoors after dark.

And I'm not the only one. Savie has been very clingy today. Usually she is ok but today was just hard. I was suppose to have only one kid, N, after noon today but there was a change in plans and I have 2 which made my afternoon a little hard and Savie was just tired. There were a lot of tears this afternoon and I will be very happy when daddy gets here tomorrow. I just might have him come get her from school (after he takes a shower). I can't wait.

Oh and I also needed him to kill the big scorpion that was in the bathroom.

Heads Or Tails#3

or H O T as some of the others call it. I like this weeks prompt, Manners, it's a good thought.

I don't think that a lot people think about the manner in how they say things. Yes in the media we see all manners of things, good and bad, but it is not just that. It's how we see ourselves and how we treat other people. We need to stop for a minute and think about what we are doing, not just on the big scale f things but also on the small scale. How are we treating our neighbors? The older couple that lives 3 door down? the stray cat that shows up every now and then? Have we taught our kids to be nice? To treat people with respect?

Thinking about taking the time in how we treat being, using our manners, this is something that I feel is very important, regardless of the age. My husband, at the age of almost 60, doesn't think at all about trying to get around me without saying "Excuse me"? I tell the kids all the time at school "to use their manners" to say "excuse me" before walking in front of people, reaching in front of people, etc.

It's also about the manner in how you carry yourself. Are you confident? Are you brave? Myself personally I am not. Yes I am confident, that I have raised my daughter to be a good person (but that struggle is only beginning), that my husband loves me, that I will find something fulfilling in my life.

Slow down Sat

I did this the other week but I am going to try and do this every week. I need to do this every week. I need to take the time to slow down, sit down, and think about what I've been doing. It's hard to do since I work all week but, for my own sanity, I need to do this.

This has been a good week. Savie and I took Halley in on Monday to see about her drains and stitches. She got all 8 of her drains out then. I know she is feeling better, she was happy about going to the vet's office, lol. (She is such a love of a dog, have I said that already?) Then I took her back on Friday to find out about her stitches and they only took the ones in her butt out and said that she is looking really good, all things considered. She still has her E-collar on and the stitches in her head but that should only be for another week. I am hoping, for her, that everything comes out next week. I am sooo ready for her to get this collar off because she is smacking the heck out of us!!!

Today was the Farmer's Market, as usual. I guess Savie got up a little to early this morning because by the time we were close to being done at the market she was cranky. But we got lots of good stuff at the market. Since hubby will be gone for a couple of days next week. I know that I will need to get some food for him so I was hoping that I could get it at the Market but since he's not leaving until Tuesday I can't get a lot of stuff for him but he did ask for some corn and that's what we got. A dozen, fresh, organic, no pesticides corn. I would take a picture but I have them in the fridge already, lol.

I need to go to the store, I've been putting it off all week, but I need to do it. I have a list of stuff I need to buy. That is my plan for the rest of the day now that little bits is awake. Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

De-skunking

If you've read my tackle post you understand the title so you kinda know what I am talking about.


Halley, my wonderful, loving, 8yr dog loves to play, and sleep, and do what most dogs do. But her true love? That would be catching skunks. I mean she's done it 7 times now so I think that is her newest game. Why else would she get sprayed 7 times. But you might be asking yourself, how do you get the smell out of your dog at 11pm at night when all the stores are closed? Well let me tell you, this is what you do.

1. stop your dog from coming in the house
2. yell for husband to help you
   
3. not get an answer from #2
4. drag dog to the car to get the leash so we can keep her in one place (be sure not the let said dog get into car)
   
5. run into the kitchen and dig for the de-skunking recipe
6. un-hook dog and drag into the bathroom because dog knows that they smell and hates to take baths
7. mix the de-skunking soap and proceed to bath dog
   
8. repeat step #7
9. call hubby again to help you so you can run to the washer to grab some towels
10. wait 10 minute for hubby to get to you
11. run to get towels
12. drag dog out and put her outside (in the rain) to dry off

Not only did I tackle a pretty big thing but what worked for me having hubby around, even if it took awhile to help me, having a de-skunking recipe, and a leash close by. (If you want the de-skunking thing let me know)

What works for you?

I need a new car~update

Someone somewhere was listening to me rant about my car. Hubby told me today that after we work out something for a house, I'll explain that later, I can get a car and not just some old beat up car for like $1,000.00 no he said something for maybe around $5-$6,000.00!!!! I was shocked to hear this, I almost hit a tree (we were driving when he told me this). I would love to have a new-er car. I don't really need a 2007-8 but a 2000 would be nice. You have no idea how happy this makes me since we paid $1,100.00 for this stupid car and then put in over $4,000.00 in it in the past 2yrs. It's crazy, let me tell you why we had to sped that $$ on it.

About 2 months after we bought the Suburban, which I have named Betty, when we went up to Phoenix for a photo shoot for Savie and then decided to drive up to Prescott to visit some friends. About 2 hrs from Prescott there was all this smoke and Betty was pulling really hard up a hill and then she just went dead. We called AAA to get a tow and then found out that the transmission went out!!! And had no choice but to have Aamco put in a new one. That one day trip cost up about $4,000.00 that's the transmission and rental car.
The next time we needed to do work on the transmission was about a year later, it went out again but this time it was still under warranty so it didn't cost anything but the rental car for a week.

Fix #3~ we made a road trip to Idaho for Labor day and took a friend with us. While we were in St. Maries, hubby's hometown we put in a new radiator, the size it should have been which was 4x bigger than the one that was in it (that's why it took us so long to get from AZ to ID).

Fix #4~took another road trip to CA for business for hubby. On our way home, can you guess what I am going to say??? That's right it was the transmission again. So another call to AAA and Aamco. It took about a week for them to fix the problem, we were stuck in some little town in CA in the mts in the winter when we had only packed for a week. I was pissed. So we were stuck for 2 weeks with no car. So let's see that's a new transmission (under warranty), a hotel room for a 2 weeks, a rental car for 2 days, and a plane ticket to get home and back. Oh wait I forgot we did get Betty back but then on our way to get the trailer that we had, in the city we got stuck in, the transmission went out about 2 hr after we got Betty back that's why we ended up flying back.

I love Betty but she is just a drain on our $$. Hubby says that once I get a car (yeah) Betty will be used mainly for camping, which is great cuz then we don't need a tent when w go, lol. We've already slept in it once so it's not that bad it's actually about the same size as our bed now so it won't be that cramped.
Ok I think I'm done ranting/raving about getting a new car.
