What a day

Last night was a bad night. I am still in shock but will update later on when I have had a chance to relax and think.

Last night Halley was attacked by javelina and then this morning my car was rear ended. I spent all of last night sleeping on the couch, checking on her and trying to get some sleep. I am not in a good place.

I love my house

even though most nights I can't say that. What with the javelina's and skunks trying to get into the yard. It's the whole reason I can't compost in my yard and I really want to. I'm afraid that even the flowers I have started now will not make it. But now I am sitting here at 1 am in the morning (Sunday) watching a small fox come down and get food that was suppose to be in my compost pile. It's been so cute to see this. He's small, almost cat like but the ears are to pointed to be a cat and I know what a fox looks like. We had a kit fox that came around a lot last summer but haven't seen it this year so far. Uh oh, I think we have a problem, a skunk just showed up and wants to eat to. Ok scared it off, without having to go outside, and now I'm just waiting for the little guy to come back. To bad Savie is asleep, she would have gotten such a kick out of seeing this.

This is one of the reasons I love this house. It's so close to the mountains that wild animals will walk by without thinking about how close they are to where people are.

What a week

I usually have a great photo to post today, Sky Watch Friday, but the last couple of days have just been weird and busy for me. I try to keep my camera in the car but it hasn't been there for the past 3 days. I can barely think straight to write this now. I am just so out to lunch right now that I can barely do this. I have so many thoughts running around in my head but I can't seem to make any sense out of them.

I think I have mentioned before that I have a bit of a javelina problem. (read here and here also) Well Tuesday night they were here but hubby was up and went out and scared them away so that was an easy night. Wednesday they were only here once and that was before I went to bed so that was an easy night as well, but Thursday they were here at least four different times. The last time I got up, because Halley was growling, was about 5:15am. I get up around 6am so that was just crapping. I think that is just so hard to get used to. I need sleep and I have a lot of things I need to tonight and tomorrow. Oh well, things will get done soon.

Some things are just not meant to be

After the "happy homecoming" I got on Saturday and then the disaster of a walk on Sunday, and having to drive back up on Monday morning I just wanted to relax this week. It was not to be.

Savie and hubby went to bed early last night, around 8pm, so I was able to watch a lot of the shows that I had on DVR. (Click over here or here to see what I've watched so far) Well after Sat. night I am a little jumpy about noises outside so when I heard something fall last night I was a little scared to look out the window to see what it was. I was hoping it was just something falling in the shower. I looked in the bathroom, in the shower and...........nothing. Still didn't want to look outside so I went back to watching Dexter. When I did finally look outside what did I see????

A SKUNK!!!!!!!!!!! ON THE TABLE SAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes a skunk up on my husbands table saw. I watched him for about 15 minutes while he crawled around on top and then back down off the table. Why oh why was my camera in the car? LOL I'm sure by now a lot f you are thinking that I'm this stuff up and trust me I wish I was. A there are just some things I wish weren't really happening.

I miss my friends

I miss my friends from high school. I really do. Like I said before one of my high school friends and I have been talking and working on losing weight (read this post for a little background) and we did our usual check-in for the week. Well we always manage to talk about other things as well. She told me that I should write a book about my many adventures here in Arizona. While talking to her today I told her about what happened last night, about our wedding, and other stuff that has happened to her. I love her. That was so nice of her to tel me that. l

Just when you thought it was

Let me preempt this by saying this just happened about 45 minutes ago so I am still a little shaken up or on an adrenaline rush.

Today started out so good. We went to the mountains (that whole even will be another post) but Savie and I were only going for the day so I wanted to leave before it was to late and we were both to tired to take showers when we got home. Well it wasn't to late for us. By the time we got home it was about 8 pm and Savie was awake. Usually when I come home at night I stop before I get into my driveway because of the javelina and skunks in the area. I don't really want to surprise one in my driveway. Well I did that and there was nothing there, I even told Savie to wait until I closed the gate to make sure that there wasn't anything waiting in the back or something for me. Closed the gate and got both Savie and Halley out of the car and then went back out to unload, or at least bring the cooler in the house since it didn't have any ice in it. And I still had other stuff to get out of the car and I left the front door open.

Once everything was in the house the first thing I did was get her in the shower and then feed Halley. Now it's not like Halley hasn't had food at all today, she had some crackers with Savie and I and then a big piece of meat that fell off the grill at camp (well not a big, huge piece but bigger than I would have given her). Now it's mine turn to take a shower and I take a nice long shower to relax after our long day and make sure I get all the dirt off of me. I got out and got dressed and heard something 'fall' outside. Thinking it was just the wind I finished getting dressed and then walked down the hallway to see a javelina!!!!!!!!! standing next to my tire!!!!!!! I almost screamed. I walked quickly down into the kitchen and got the phone book so I could call the police to come up here and help me get rid of them. The dispatcher laughed at me when I told her what I was calling for but that's ok, when you read the other post you'll see that this is not a new thing here. I just wanted someone, anyone to come up here and get rid of them.

After I got off the phone I looked again and there were 5 of them rooting around i the driveway. I am just waiting for the cops to come up here and help me. I banged on the door, turned my car alarm on (since they were right by my car), and made some noises just to try and scare away the ones that were here but it didn't work. The police finally showed up and after about 15 minutes they got all of them out. They told me there were at least 11 of the mean little buggers in my yard.

Oh yeah hubby will have to fix that this week.

Response to "OMG!!!!!"

Even though I only got one comment to my OMG post (thanks Mom) let me give you a couple of links for Javelina's. This is a good one that shows the habits in Arizona. This one you have to page down to get to the Javelina's and there are other desert animals there to. Enjoy

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I am trying really hard to calm down right now so forgive me if I don't make a lot of sense. Anyone who has ever lived in AZ knows that there is a lot of wildlife around. Coyotes. Bears. Wolves. Mountain Cats. Javelina's. Deer. I know this. I've lived here for 4 years and have seen my share of coyotes and wolves and javelina's. The mountatin is our backyard. All of these animals walk by our house at night, maybe a javelina in the back once in awhile during the day. We try not to go out there when they are around. I don't want to bother them or scare them away. Two years ago my husband did some work trimming a tree for our landlord and left all the brush on a trailer above the house. Every night we watched the deer come down and eat of it. It was so interesting for Savie to sit in the window seat and watch them. I really want to buy a salt lick for them to watch them more often. I love to watch the animals around here. I just don't want them very close to me.

I just went out to close my gate so Halley, my dog, can go out without me having to out with her. I was talking on the phone with a friend and looked back to see the moon when I saw/heard something outside the gate. I turned...........and saw........ a javelina!!!!!!!A big one, no more then 50 yards away from me!!!!!! I screamed, almost dropped the phone and ran (tried to keep my slippers on) back into the house.

It was just to much. I can't believe I was that close to one and didn't know it until it made some noise. I'm just lucky it was busy eating and didn't want to chase after me.
