School is here

So school as officially started, actually it started on the 6th for us here.I have been looking around for lunch bags and bottles or Savie to take. I was over at THF and saw some really cute bags. I have a couple of bags already but once I pick a different bag and bottle, they old ones will go to the thrift store. I don't have yard sales so that is what I will have to do with them. I have also been looking for water bottles for her since she still chews on things and the two water bottles she has now have been chewed on so bad that they don't seal like the should. I am leaning towards a SIGG bottle but everyone is out of them since there was such a big rush on them.

For myself, I am working 3 days a week and still need to sign up for my classes. I have just been so not aware of what is going on that I am behind on this. I have a few things to do now that school is back in session, what about you? When does school start for your kids? Are you ready?

Updates

It dawn on me that today is the 21st and I haven't done an update in awhile. Let's see over at THF it's just about water conservation which goes great with the Quickie challenge. My plants are just loving me right now. I have watered the 4 pots that I have and they are doing great. I should take a picture of the rose tree that I've been watering like crazy. When I bought it there was only one bloom on it and that was it. Since I have been putting the shower water in the pot (did I meantion that?) I've gotten so many blooms off of it. I think I have 6 blooms going right now with at least 4 more to open in the next day or so. I love it.

My water bill hasn't gone down that much but it's a start, right? What about you, how are you doing on the challenges so far?

BYOB Update

It's been 3 weeks since the start of the BYOB challenge and I was doing sooooo good until I got a package from my friend Anna. (Thanks Anna) I love the package I got from her, it was so cute but there were plastic bags in there!!!!!! What are you doing to me Anna?!?!? LOL. She must have been reading THF about getting rid of plastic bags that's why they were in there. So now my count is up to 5 plastic bags. I was doing so good and only had the one bag before today. But on the upside I have to mail a couple of packages out and will be using these plastic bags for padding.

So how are you doing on the challenge?

Paper Towel Challenge

I must have been really distracted this past week. In an effort to be more green I signed up for a great challenge over at Tree Hugging Family, a paper towel challenge. This is something that I really want to do, we go thru to many paper towels anyways. I know this because the have been a few nights when paper towels have ended up in our bed, lol.

so this is the challenge. Use less, or no, paper towels. Simple right. Not so, at least not at first. The first week, last week, was just to keep track of how and when you use them. I haven't done that, at all but let me see if I can list some uses off the top of my head.

1. wiping down the cutting board. ( don't feel so great using a sponge for this)
2. small spills on the table
3. drying hands off because dish towel is missing
4. napkin for meals

I think those are the ones that we do a lot. There are probably more but that's what comes to mind. This coming week the goal is to use less. i think I barely used a roll of paper towels. I don't use the regular ones but the select-a-size ones. For us it makes a difference. We have switched to cloth napkins but I have bought a lot of them, mainly because I can't find any that I really like, but I am looking. I like having cloth napkins instead of paper towels. My hand is starting to hurt so I will leave it at that. How about you? are you up for a challenge? can you use less? How about none?

I got plugged

I got plugged by One Tree Hugging Family!!!!!! I have been trying to be more green and reading green blogs has helped a lot to get me in that mindset. I been lurking there for awhile and commenting just recently. But this, this is great. Pop on over and have a look!!!!!!
