I miss my friends

I miss my friends from high school. I really do. Like I said before one of my high school friends and I have been talking and working on losing weight (read this post for a little background) and we did our usual check-in for the week. Well we always manage to talk about other things as well. She told me that I should write a book about my many adventures here in Arizona. While talking to her today I told her about what happened last night, about our wedding, and other stuff that has happened to her. I love her. That was so nice of her to tel me that. l

Sunday Scribblings #104

This Sundays Scribbling is out of this world (pun intended).

I believe in other worlds, other planets and all of that. Yes you may be thinking something along the lines of how Men In Black showed it. The whole marble is a universe thing, yeah I can believe it. Who are we to say that we are the only ones, in the known universe, that are smart enough to think this way. We are not that smart. There is something out there, who knows where, but somewhere there are things/peoples/aliens watching us and laughing at us.

Or maybe it's something like The Matrix and we are all connected to something and don't even realize it. We could be something that is so much bigger than ourselves that we aren't even aware of it.

There are plenty of movies out there that have put this theory out there and for the most part, we as a society have taken them as just movies, laughing at people who really believe in everything that happened at Area 51.

What about ghost? Whose to say that they are the only way that other lifeforms can connect with us on this planet, it's the only form that some of us would recognize. Maybe that is the only way that some of us will be to accept that we are not alone. (man that sounds kinda cliche doesn't it?)

To read other 'out of this world' stories go over to Sunday Scribblings for more.

Just when you thought it was

Let me preempt this by saying this just happened about 45 minutes ago so I am still a little shaken up or on an adrenaline rush.

Today started out so good. We went to the mountains (that whole even will be another post) but Savie and I were only going for the day so I wanted to leave before it was to late and we were both to tired to take showers when we got home. Well it wasn't to late for us. By the time we got home it was about 8 pm and Savie was awake. Usually when I come home at night I stop before I get into my driveway because of the javelina and skunks in the area. I don't really want to surprise one in my driveway. Well I did that and there was nothing there, I even told Savie to wait until I closed the gate to make sure that there wasn't anything waiting in the back or something for me. Closed the gate and got both Savie and Halley out of the car and then went back out to unload, or at least bring the cooler in the house since it didn't have any ice in it. And I still had other stuff to get out of the car and I left the front door open.

Once everything was in the house the first thing I did was get her in the shower and then feed Halley. Now it's not like Halley hasn't had food at all today, she had some crackers with Savie and I and then a big piece of meat that fell off the grill at camp (well not a big, huge piece but bigger than I would have given her). Now it's mine turn to take a shower and I take a nice long shower to relax after our long day and make sure I get all the dirt off of me. I got out and got dressed and heard something 'fall' outside. Thinking it was just the wind I finished getting dressed and then walked down the hallway to see a javelina!!!!!!!!! standing next to my tire!!!!!!! I almost screamed. I walked quickly down into the kitchen and got the phone book so I could call the police to come up here and help me get rid of them. The dispatcher laughed at me when I told her what I was calling for but that's ok, when you read the other post you'll see that this is not a new thing here. I just wanted someone, anyone to come up here and get rid of them.

After I got off the phone I looked again and there were 5 of them rooting around i the driveway. I am just waiting for the cops to come up here and help me. I banged on the door, turned my car alarm on (since they were right by my car), and made some noises just to try and scare away the ones that were here but it didn't work. The police finally showed up and after about 15 minutes they got all of them out. They told me there were at least 11 of the mean little buggers in my yard.

Oh yeah hubby will have to fix that this week.

I think I need a soapbox.....

at least for tonight, and my reason for needing a soapbox you ask???

I know that for most of you this is the time of year when start to think of where you will be going when the kids are out of school. I've seen the bumper sticker about tourist season and hunting season, you know the one I mean?

Living here in Bisbee is great. most of the time. All winter long we have snowbird-ers down here enjoying the mild winter that we have. Did I meantion that we got snow maybe twice this year? It's one of the things I love about living here, no snow. I can not handle snow (sorry family in Idaho) so I'm glad we live here where it's just really cold. But I'm getting off the topic here. The snowbird-ers are great, they are usually older couples with their RV's visiting stores, galleries, etc. You barely notice them since some of them have a second home here and have been visiting for years. But then it gets warm and they slowly start to leave and the other kind of tourist come. The ones that are looking for "a quaint, little town", something "cute" with quaint people and shops. Well that is Bisbee, a charming town.

My problem is with the tourist who insist on telling their children lies about the town. Now before you get upset finish reading (then get upset, lol). The other day as Savie and I were walking thru the train park where some of the local artist, homeless, locals like to hang out. This little kid, maybe about 6-7 years old, asked his dad what the homeless guy was doing. Dad tells him
"Oh he's homeless son, those kinds of people are always in little towns like this."

OH REALLY?!?!? You don't have homeless people in whatever town you came from? Everyone that leaves in your area has a job and a home? Two parent households? Great schools? No drop-outs? I don't agree with parents telling kids this when they are visiting another town, it's like going to someones house and talking about their house or cooking or backyard. That is just rude. True in his defense, he probably didn't realize that a local was standing so close or that he was talking that loud.

My other complaint about tourist is that they have a bad habit of standing in the middle of the street and read a map. I understand they don't know where they are going and are enjoying the scenic views but get on the sidewalk or step to one side. It's really not safe to do that here. There are a lot of blind turns and people (read tourist) don't drive the speed limit so standing out away from cars is not a safe practice.

Ok I think I am ready to get off my soapbox now, thanks for listening to my rant.

Clothing Exchange

Tonight was a clothing exchange. I love when we can do this do and for once it was my idea!!! Yeah!!!! I just wish I was a smaller size like most of these lovely ladies. But it was still so much fun. We got there about half an hour after it started but that's ok since there were lots more coming after me. I brought my own special cheesecake for dessert ( go to this site and you can customize your own cheesecake, it's so much fun) and other people brought crackers and salad, plenty of other things for the kids to eat and drink.

It was so much fun. Clothes flying everywhere, kids running around, voices' everywhere. I just don't know what to say about it. I went with one big bag of clothes and came home with 2 large loads and 2 small bags, but don't fear they are going to the local Goodwill. I need to get off my feet and go relax, have a good night ladies.

Working It Out

Well I think this may be a little premature but....................

I've lost 10 lbs this week!!!!!!!!

check out my other post about the situation is but I think I did it. Let's see if this hold true when I weigh myself again on Sunday.

Would a Good Morning be so hard?

Sometimes I wish if K was going to call me early in the morning that it would be for a good reason. Just to say Good Morning. Not to tell me that her neighbor, from across the street, dog's was out (AGAIN) and was in her yard (AGAIN) and that her dog was trying to attack it. Now I am a dog lover and don't wish harm to any animal but I have no sympathy for her today. I have told her to call the cops every time this dog is out running loose, getting in her yard, whatever the case may be. If you don't call, the dog doesn't have a record of disturbances and they don't know to keep an eye out for him. I know this because I have called about the dog 2 streets over from me. See the post I wrote about that here.

Did you read it? Ok so now your caught up. The dog that is 2 streets over has charged me several times, not only when I have taken my dog for a walk but when it's just Savie and I. That is where I draw the line. I understand that dogs being dogs, they will protect what they see as theirs, but to charge me when I am walking with my daughter will get you hurt. It doesn't matter what the breed is so I won't even tell you what the dog is but I have called about this dog several times.Every time. Not just when I am with Savie. this dog needs to be controlled. I blame the dogs actions on the owner.

Why you ask? Ever you ever seen people let their dogs out on a deserted road and then take off? try to 'race' the dog home?Yeah well that's what this guys does. Across one of the few major streets that we have in town. Not that far from a blind curve where people are driving 45MPH. This dog is going to get hurt. I have almost hit it once. (Going to the store after dark almost didn't see it when I turned the corner, doesn't help that this is a dark colored dog.)

So if she's going to get upset because the dog finally gets into her yard and messes with her lamb. and dog. and puppies. I can't help her.

Wordless Wednesday

Tackle It Tuesday-part 2

Ok I have found a way to get pictures up so here we go.

This is Savie sitting next to our supplies.

The potting soil (that got mixed with a neighbors soil), our gloves, shovel, and the seeds we planted.
Photobucket Photobucket

notice the smaller version of my gloves and tools? Yeah Savie thinks she's so cute now.

Working It Out

Well the ladies over at 5 Minutes For Mom have given me another reason to lose some more weight, not that playing with my daughter or not being winded after walking a flight of stairs or going for a walk everyday isn't enough. They have found True Jeans, a site that helps you find the right size/fit of jeans without the whining and complaining of little ones in the dressing room, lol. Just be warned the jeans are pricey but they should be ok. Go on over and check out both.

Tackle It Tuesday

Wow it's Tuesday already? Well here is my little bit to tackling so far. I finally got around to planting all the flowers I bought. (I bought seeds not plants). Saturday I mixed soil with a neighbor so I should have some really good soil and be able to get something growing. Yesterday I pulled everything out of the bags, lined up the pots on the wall (so Savie could reach them) and started pulling dirt out of the garbage can. Savie did one pot at a time, making a mess of herself of course, but got all the pots full of dirt. I put the seeds in and let her water them. So far it's been 2 days and she has watered them everyday. The package on one said we should see sprouts in 2 weeks so keep your fingers crossed.

(something is wrong with my computer and I can't upload pictures but I will putting them up soon.)

Oh I forgot to mention I made myself a To Do list for today and that had about 20 things on it, most which I knew would get pushed to tomorrow but the thought was there, right? Any way the list included vacuuming my bedroom. Now this is a tackle for me. I live in a small trailer and there isn't much carpet so it should only take about 10 minutes to do it right? Yeah but that means that I have to pull the vacuum out of the second bedroom, clean up the big stuff on the floor (crayons, dolls, paper, etc) I should show just how bad the bedroom floor was, it was bad, take my word for it. Well that is my tackle for Tuesday but I have a lot more to do, lol.

Monday, March 24, 2008

It's Monday night what are you doing?

Me? Instead of planning my menu for the week (lots of leftover ham here) and cleaning up I am watching DWTS. Oh and my daughter didn't get to bed until almost 9:30pm. That's an hour later than I wanted her to go to bed but she's in bed and that's all that matters. I just hope that we don't have a repeat of last night. Had to change he sheets twice last night because someone had a lot to drink and didn't go potty before going to bed. I chalk that one up to hubby since he's the one that took her. And guess who slept in the wet spot?

I need to make that phone call tomorrow because I still feel like poop. on a stick. The only good thing today was take a walk, twice. Breakfast was something daddy did since he was home, lunch was a sandwich and a lot of grazing, snacks, and then ice cream. Before dinner. Yep it was a bad food day in my house.

Working it Out..a quickie

this whole "I can make you thin" thing is annoying because I'm drinking a lot of water and have gone to the bathroom 5 times since 4pm. lol

Trying to work it out

I have been trying to lose weight for over a year and am not having much luck. I've tried various diet pills with no luck. Now I working with my friend in NY, well Brooklyn actually, who is trying to lose weight as well (you have to check out her site she has some really cool jewelry). After watching TLC I came across this show "I Can Make You Thin". At first I thought it was going to be someone selling something but it's not. It's some common sense things that make sense (that didn't make sense did it?) But so far it's easy. I've learned the 4 golden rules and they are pretty easy to follow. Check out his site, he has a book of the same title and some other books but I think I am going to stick with the and go from there, lol.

This is the first step right?

Admitting that you might have a problem? Saying the words out loud instead of just in your head?? Ok here goes.

I am an anger person.

At least that has been the case for the past week. I have been yelling a lot more and telling Savie not to do this and not to do that. I know I have hurt her feelings and I've told her sorry but I think I need to talk to someone about it. Yes this is the week that I am on my period but it's never been this bad before. I had little to very little desire to do anything this week, from cooking dinner to cleaning up to going to story hour. Depression had hit me hard this week. Should I wait another week before I ask to talk to someone and then wait another 2 weeks before I actual,y get in to talk to someone? No I think tomorrow I will just call and see if I can find someone around here to talk to and then figure out a way to pay for it.

Ok I feel better now.

Sunday Scribblings # 103

I Just Don't Get It

That is the topic for this week. And there are quite a few things I don't get. I think I will just make a list and leave it at that.

  • I don't understand why people dress their pets (dogs, cats, etc) in costumes for holiday's.
  • I don't understand why other people think they can tell me how to talk/dress/feed/etc my child
  • I don't understand why people can't understand that yes I am not religious but spiritual and those are not the same thing.
  • I don't understand why people insist on pushing religion on my daughter and myself.
  • I don't understand how my friend K can have so many animals in her house but not open any windows
  • I don't understand how I can love ketchup and salsa but won't eat raw tomatoes in my salad or on a sandwich
  • I don't understand how you can be against abortion but for the death penalty.
  • I don't understand how it is that I can't remember what happened last week but i remember getting raped.
  • I don't understand how I will rise my daughter to be a good person.
  • I don't understand how I can sleep thru the alarm clock when it's right over my head
  • Or how my husband can sleep thru my playing loudly in the living room while he sleeps on the recliner.
I know there is more I don't understand but that's all I can think of tonight. I might have to come back and add to it in a day or two.

Easter Bunny, I think your gonna have to come back

I shouldn't be saying that but I think the Easter Bunny is going to have to come back sometime this week. I am just not up to it at all. It's almost 11 pm, Savie is asleep on the couch because hubby went to the mountains today and I am a sucker about making her go to bed by herself (we co-sleep and there is only one bed anyways). Even though Halley would love to go to bed with her (gives her another reason to get on the bed) I can't make Savie do it. I just don't have the heart tonight. Well I think I will just go to bed and try again in the morning.

Well the Party is over

and as always I am the last one to leave. I met a few people over at the blogging party (hosted by the wonderfully ladies at 5 Minutes For Mom).

Well lets see. I've bounced around and found some great ladies. There's Kristen over at We Are That Family, she cracks me up with the stories of things that happen to her and her family. I can see it happening to me soon, even if I do only have the one kid, lol.

There's Nancy over at "Are We Having Yet?" and DCRMom (who I think I found before the party) over at Musings of a Housewife. Alexis at Ramblings From Life, a bookworm like me, Kysha over at Love's School who is a Homeschooling Christian mother of 5, and another Michelle over at Heart of the Prairie.

I will be stopping in on these ladies and others from the party. Hope everyone had fun!!!

Sky Watch Friday

It's Friday and time to watch the sky. I have a good one and a bad one this week but that's ok.

Here is the good picture

And here is the Bad

There is a fire burning here in town and so far no one has been hurt, thank goodness.

Don't forget to stop in at Tom's place where Sky Watch Friday is being hosted.

Bad news......update

Well it's almost 10:30pm here and I've watched the last of the news. I can't see the fire anymore from my house (I don't know if that's a good thing or not) but at least the wind has died down. It was pretty windy this afternoon but it's suppose to dye down to about 5-10 MPH. Here are a few pictures that I took from my house (you can click on them to make them HUGE)

The news said it was up to 500 acres and people have been evacuated from the area. It's not a good night here.

Bad News in Bisbee

Well today was a bad day. I got up plenty early and had plenty of time to get ready to go into town so Savie could get her picture taken with the Easter Bunny but I just could not get myself into gear. So we didn't manage to get out here until 11 am, which is a good 2 hours later than I wanted to. As we were driving out of town, up the canyon I noticed a small fire burning up in the canyon. Now remember most of the town is set in a canyon somewhere which is why we will never live in 'Ol Bisbee, no parking and I am afraid of heights. I was hoping that it would be under control and went about my day. Made it to the mall pretty fast, got her picture taken with the Easter Bunny without any crying (Yeah for Savie!!!!!!) and then drove to the Farmer's Market. It wasn't as good as the Bisbee one but it was ok. (Got lots of good stuff, I will try and post links to then later on) Anyhoo drove back thru the canyon on the way home and say that the fire was getting bigger. I feel really bad for the people that live up there. There are a lot of house in the canyons and the roads are really narrow, I mean I can barely drive my Suburban up there.
Well it's 8:20 pm and the fire is still going. The local news (coming from a station that is a 2 hr drive from here) said at 5pm that it was up to 200 acres, there were 100 local firefighters working on the blaze (which includes volunteers) and more were on the way. I will be back on later to post some pictures and a update. I can see the fire from our living room window. It's a bad day here in Bisbee.

Bad Mommy #3

Yes I've had another bad mommy moment. This time in public.

Savie and I go to the library every Tuesday and Thursday for story Hour is over and we've had the snack and juice and are ready to leave . Usually we get there just as it's starting but every now and then we get there early. Anyways by the time story hourSavie doesn't want to. She is playing with her friends, having fun, etc so leaving is usually a bit of a drama. I'm used to the crying, yelling etc that comes with us being the first ones to leave. This past Tuesday was no different. We left, after saying good-bye to everyone and "we'll see you at the hot dog place". We took the stairs (my is trying to get healthy) and she is still crying. I kept walking, not far but enough. I walked to the bottom of the stairs and waited for her to keep walking. The entire time she is crying "I don't wanna, mommy". I stood there and waited for her keep walking, a couple walks by us and smiles.

"A little upset is she?"

"Nope just having a morning meltdown." and a smile.

She is slowly walking down the steps, has managed 3 steps by now, and wants me to come get her. Not going to happen. Then she does the craziest thing. She sticks her head under the railing!!!!!!! OMGoodness. I calmly walk back up the stairs and try to get her head out as another woman comes out and gives me 'the look'. Do I freak out? Get upset? Nope I just tell her to take 2 steps back up the stairs so we can get her head out. Yep that was a prize winning moment for me.

Am I a Bad Mother??

I have never been a very 'touchy feely' person. I am not big on hugs, kisses, PDA, stuff like that. (makes you wonder just how it is that I got pregnant in the first place, huh?) Sitting on an airplane/bus/ movie theater is to close. I have a tendency to lean away from people, I sit across from people when we sit down to eat. I just don't like to be that close to people, don't ask me why. It's almost cat-like, meaning that it has to be on my terms (all you cat owners know that's true, lol)

Hubby understands this and deals with it while Savie on the other hand doesn't understand it. She is always rubbing my arm, trying to sit in my lap, hugging my leg, etc and it. bugs. me. I am mean really bugs me. I can't sit next to her on the couch. She has to sit on the other end, it's not a big couch in my defense.

Does this make me a bad mother? Is my child going to remember that I wouldn't let her sit next to me on the couch? That every time she tried to hug me I pushed her away?

Works for Me Wednesday

Breakfast-always a problem for me to make and eat but I have finally come up with something do-able, for Savie. When making pancakes, after making the batter, I scoop out an ice cream scoop to make kid size pancakes. Two or three pancakes that size with some fruit and we are set.

When making muffins and now biscuits from a book I borrowed from a friend getting them to be about the same size is easy with an Ice Cream Scoop. I love my ice cream scoop. It's right up there with baby wipes.

Go over to Rocks In My Dryer to see some more hints.

Tacke It Tuesday

It's Tuesday again and I am trying to decide what I want to tackle. This week it has to be something small since I was out and about all day on Sat and it snowed/hailed/rained on Sunday. So I have a choice, I can clean the inside of my car or I can empty out the change jar. I think Savie is falling asleep as I type this so I may be able to empty the jar and fold and put away clothes while she is out. She really wants to help clean the car since I told her she can clean the windows so I don't want to do that without her. I will update later on when I have picked, and completed, one.

Well I did it, forgot to take pictures, but I did it. I got the back seat cleaned up, well just Savie's area to be honest. But I got the seat wiped down and the vaccuumed the underside of her area. I vacuumed the trunk of the Explorer but while waiting for the carpet freshener I decided to trim the tree and the rosebush and the rosemary ( I think that's that what hubby said that is) and man does my back hurt. Then before taking our shower I did the change jar and at last count it was $63.50 in change, not bad huh?

I don't know if you ladies know this but I have another blog that is just for TV shows. Here's the link for my favorite show (now that the writers are back, lol)

Menu Planning

Mom is in the fishbowl: Raisin Bread French Toast

For the past 3 weeks I have been planning my menus out and so far I have been really good about sticking to it. There have been a couple of days where I not been in the mood to cook or we've gone out for dinner, stuff like that. And in honor of Mom is in the fishbowl here's one of my favorite weekend breakfasts. It's Overnight French Toast.
I make the "Batter" just like you normally do (I never measure sorry) and I try to use French toast bread when I can find it since the slices are nice and thick. Tear the bread into pieces and put into a good size casserole dish. Sometimes I use banana's slices in the bread or blueberries. Then pour the batter over everything, then I top it some more cinnamon. Put it in the fridge overnight and then bake in an oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes covered and then another 10 minutes uncovered. There are lots more over at I love that website.

Another quickie

I love bouncing around and reading other people's stuff here's one I like, mainly because it makes me think, lol

What I was doing 10 years ago:
10 years ago I was 22 and enjoying the fact that I had to work to pay my rent, buy groceries, and maybe if I could afford it, go out to the clubs with my friends. My boyfriend at the time was bouncing us around apartments, I was trying to keep things normal but I knew things were in the toilet. I was looking for a way out and not doing a good job. I thought since I was only 4 yrs out of high school I should be on my way to a career (boy was I wrong). I wasn't thinking about getting married or having kids, I was worried about making the rent and having enough food in the kitchen to eat.

5 Things on my To Do List today:
  1. wash clothes
  2. wash my hair
  3. wash Savie's hair
  4. menu plan for the week
  5. wash dishes

Snacks I Enjoy:
Popcorn, apples, yogurt, and every now and then chocolate

Things I would do if I were a Billionaire:
I would pay off my debts, hubbies debts, buy a house, give some to my mother/father/nieces, donate a huge chunk to the local animal shelter/Boys & Girls Club/Library, set up a college fund for my daughter, and maybe take a vacation

3 of my Bad Habits:
reading in the bathroom, driving fast, reading to many books, lol.

5 places I have lived:
Petaluma, Pacifica, Hayward, Sunol, Union City, CA and Bisbee, AZ

5 Jobs I have had:
cashier, assistant manager, cashier, nanny, mother

I am not trendy......,at all

It has come to attention that I am not trendy. I don't have a name brand anything, wear jeans and a t-shirt almost everyday, barely clean house, and in a nutshell am one of the moms other moms talk about. In a bad way.

But I think it also has to do with the fact that
  1. I only have the one child and will keep it that way
  2. I'm not Christian/religious
  3. I'm past the breastfeeding stage
  4. I don't home school
  5. I don't go to school
  6. I'm a full time stay at home parent
  7. I don't scrapbook
  8. My daughter has never had her pictures taken with the Easter Bunny/Santa Clause and I avoid it whenever I can

There are a lot of things that I don't do that other moms do, which unfortunately make a me a little more alone in the world, just another reason for me to feel like an outsider here and everywhere I go. I've never used a sling/carrier to drag Savie around, never felt the need for it. She was happy and content to be in the bouncer and watch whatever I was doing. I don't play with her a lot now, she is in her own little world making her own voices for her dolls and things. Why should I intrude on that? She can play just fine by herself. But after popping in on places like 5 Minutes for Mom, Mommies United, Hip Mama's Place, and Shutter Sister's I realize just how boring I am. Plain and simple as that.

Saturday, March 15, 2008

I am sooooo tired, forgive me if I yawn. Today was the Border to Border Air Show in Douglas. It was suppose to be a family thing but hubby had a fever and I didn't want to hear the whining when we were out so he stayed home. We saw a lot of great plans, a couple of helicopters, some great looking motorcycles and show cars, and then headed over to the carnival for some rides. I will post about it tomorrow, I'm just having a hard time staying awake. And my feet hurt, lol.

Feeling a little ol

Ok so my birthday on Saturday and I'm feeling a little older. Then I went over to Cluadia's place and saw this video.

I remember when this video just came out and it was new and everything.Man I'm feeling my age, lol.

Well I was over at Michele's place and I came across this Meme. I love things like this and thought I would 'steal' it from her, lol so here goes

I am supposed to list 8 facts/habits that none
of my readers know about me.
Here are the rules of the Meme:
In the 8 facts about yourself,
you share 8 things your readers
don't know about you.
Then at the end you tag 8
other bloggers to keep the fun going.

  1. I hate touching things in public, if I think about where my stuff has been and then think about where other people have been it gives me the creeps. If I really think about it I would never leave the house
  2. I hate going out in public. If it wasn't for my daughter I wouldn't be there.
  3. I am afraid of heights
  4. I love sushi
  5. I think people are always staring at me and not in a good way
  6. I love horror movies but am afraid of the dark

Works For Me Wednesday

In an attempt to celebrate spring I have just a bunch of random things that I do.
  • Toy Box in the back of the SUV. It's got a bunch of random sand toys in it cuz you never know when you are going to stop at the park, especially here where there are 3 parks between our house and the library, and several in town when we go. This way I just pull up at the park, get her out of the car, pull the toy box, and that's it. Several toys have been added from other kids we play with but we see them throughout the week so it's ok. (which reminds me that I need to restock, lol)
  • Music in the morning. Some mornings I have a hard time getting us going and music has always a big movement factor for me so I turn on the TV to a digital radio station, make breakfast, wash some dishes, clean up some and we are moving that much faster.
  • "Hand on the car" when your out shopping and trying to put things in the car it's was to lose track of a kid I've found out, especially in the parking lot. Some days she doesn't want to get in the car first or I haven't pulled the keys out yet so instead of making her hold my hand (which doesn't help when I'm looking for the keys) I tell her to "put a hand on the car". You can't go very far when you've got a hand on the car, lol.

Tackle It Tuesday

wow it's been awhile since I have felt like tackling anything. But I am so proud of myself, even though we didn't do this on Tuesday I had to do it. Our driveway has slowly been taken over by the stuff my husband uses for his construction work so things are slowly taking over. This is what it looked like before we started cleaning. I know it's not a great picture but I didn't remember to take one until we were halfway done. Does Halley look happy? She isn't because we keep telling her to move out of the way, lol. It took 2 truckloads full to get all of the junk and stuff that we weren't using out. This is the finished driveway.

At least now we can pull in further. Hopefully next week can tackle this

A non- mommy

Every mother has one, a friend that doesn't have kids but wants to tell you how to raise them. Letting your kids play with the scissors, buying shoes that aren't needed, to much candy, etc. K would be that friend for me. She has bought Savie 3 prs of shoes that she doesn't need, bought her nothing but candy for V-day, and now wants to buy these shoes for her. These are cute, but not for us. We are down and dirty girls. We don't need the cutest shoes or outfits, my child wants to play in the dirt so why buy shoes that I'm going to have to wash when she gets in the car? That is more work then I want. I barely wash our shoes now as it is. These are more up our alley. C'om I know everyone has one so let's hear about it.

It's time to party!!!!!!! part2

Ok I know that my original post is a little depressing but it was late and I was tired so let's try this again.

I am a 31 year old SAHM married to a man who is twice my age, with a very active 3 year old, Savie, and an 8 yr old English Pointer, Halley. We've moved from the Bay Area in CA to a very small town in AZ, Bisbee, AZ to be exact. We have moved away from friends and family, something that is not totally new to me but this is different.

I started this as a way to stay in touch with my family who is scattered across Northern California and Nevada, but also as a way to stay on the computer. It started as an outlet, a way to connect with people even if I couldn't see them face to face. I am not a very social person. I have very little social skills and would much rather, like I said, do the background stuff. I'm the mom that makes brownies for a play date, stays to help you clean up after the birthday party and offers to watch your oldest while you go take care of the younger one. Yep that's me. Give me a couple more kids to watch and I'm pretty much ok. Which is why I am going back to school to get my degree so I can teach preschool/kindergarten teacher. I love kids, a lot, which is why there will always be a lot of pictures of my daughter and other kids on my blog and none of me. I try to keep up with the other moms with the Tackle's and Wednesday's, sky watching and other stuff.

I almost forgot to list what I would like to win, there is just to much good stuff to pick but here are my top 3 choices.

#58, # 62, and #79 I also like #70, #91, #94 (gotta have a booklight, lol), #108, #129 (gotta love the books).

IT'S TIME TO PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

It's that time again ladies, time to head over to 5 Minutes For Mom and check out the party!!!!! I loved the party last year but I was just a newbie to the whole blogging scene and just missed the party but I am here this year!!!! So let me introduce myself.

I am a 31 yr old SAHM to a very active 3 yr old little girl and have been married for almost 2 years. I am living in Arizona, away from everything and everyone I know. I have no family here and usually feel a little alone. I know it sounds depressing but it's a fact. This was not my plan but I am so happy with what I have. I wouldn't trade my daughter, or my husband, for anything. (Maybe just where we live, lol)

Ok let me get back to talking about me. I love reading to the point where I go thru withdrawals if I haven't read a book in days. Magazines don't really count, they take less then an hour for me to read, lol. I need a novel. I also love to crochet which is hard for me to do sometimes because I have carpal tunnel syndrome. But that doesn't stop me from testing patterns for my online friend Anna. She has great stuff that I love to make and test for her. But again back to me.

I don't really know what to say. This blog is a way for me to talk to other mom's, and dad's, that I normally wouldn't be able to. I am not a outgoing person in real life. I am a very behind the scene, "let me help set-up and clean-up", stuff like that. I am easily distracted (which is why it's taken me almost 2 hours to get this done, lol). I am not one for schedules but would rather fly by the seat of my pants. i really have a hard time talking about me so let me get on to someone else.

I met some great ladies last year so, come on in, bounce around, check out the party and don't be a wallflower, that's my job!!!!!! LOL

Just a quickie

Whoo!!!! Not bad if I do say so myself, lol.

ummm....... don't know what to say about this one.

Sky Watch Friday

It's another beautiful day here in AZ. This is a shot I took when we went to the mountains to go camping for the day. I love the view especially on days like this.

Not sure where to start

I really don't. I have been bouncing around the Internet for most of the evening, trying to focus on things, reading blogs when I came across Rocks' blog and this story and the story that goes with it on MSNBC. I have to say that I kinda, no I do, I agree with the mom in the story. The school can not tell me how to do my child's hair. Now if it was something where kids couldn't see the board then yes, I would do something about her hair. But it's a hairstyle, not a shirt telling people to "Make love not War", or a pair of pants with holes in them or something like that. It's a hairstyle. Now I understand from her comments that this is distracting, and yes teachers have a hard time controlling our kids in school, and yes there are dress codes to try and help with the teasing, and yes most of the time it helps. I understand that taking your kids out of school to go get their nails done is over the top but it's just a hairstyle. Does that mean that when I braid my daughters hair in several braids that it's distracting??? That I have to keep her hair the same as every other child in her class??? SHE will be the only mixed, not of Hispanic descent, child in her class. There are only five other people in the whole town. Maybe I am being to sensitive to this but this makes no sense to me. Am I crazy?? Am I being oversensitive??

Today was the last day for my favorite librarian Lauren. She is the only reason I stay in town on Thursday for Bi-lingual story Hour otherwise I would have gone into Douglas for their's (but they don't do bi-lingual which I find odd since they are a border town).

Good-bye Lauren, thank you for the fun and the memories.

....Being the perfect parent

now I know that that is a touchy phrase to use. I am no where near a "perfect parent". My 3yr old stays up late, doesn't eat her veggies/fruits at every meal, may go a day without brushing her teeth, etc so this year, as part of my 50 Book Challenge I am reading parenting books. Most of what I've read have been good. Good pointers that I hadn't thought of, different ways to approach things, stuff like that. (If you look over in my sidebar you will see some of the books I've read so far.) I think it had a lot to do with the parenting class I took last year. It was only a 6 week thing, not really official, just a positive parenting class. Most of the books I have were mentioned in the class so that's where I got my start. I've been looking for the Love and Logic books but just haven't found the one for kids, not teens.

I've read "How To Talk......" which was really good, that one was in the class and was worth buying. I plan on passing it on to a mom I know who is having problems withe her son, so I think it will be a good one for her. I went to a Walden books store that was closing in Tucson and spent $100 on books!!!! That's right, One Hundred Dollars, but in my defense they were not all for me. I got one bag of books for me and one for Savie. And of course since it was just days before the store was to close there wasn't much of a selection but as you can see, I did just fine.

Anyways I had bought "Queen Bee Mom's", "How to Behave" and a couple of other books but these two are squeals and once I found that out I had to go buy the first ones so I could understand what is going on in these.

But this book, Positive Discipline, this one I can't read. I got 4 pages into it and came across a paragraph that just turned me completely off of the book. I don't know if I can post it here but it's about "controlling" mom and losing "control" of the kids. The way it's worded is just wrong. And then on top of that it also talks about the civil rights movement has messed with parenting and that was it. I couldn't read anymore. I may just try and take this book back and get my money. I have no problem with books, or rather the author, telling me what I should or shouldn't be doing with my child but to tell me that because "Dad lost control of Mom, they lost control of the kids" just rubs me raw. Maybe it's just me but I don't think so. Please tell me I'm right about the wording.
