Tackle It Tuesday #19

Button

I finally have a got around to cleaning out my daughter's toy box. A month or two ago I had a big go around with Savie about cleaning up her mess and I told her that whatever I picked up I was going to put it outside. I took everything. Now before you think that she had no toys to play with in the house that is far from the truth. She had plenty of stuff to play with in the house it was just to much. So outside there is a whole box of toys that is getting on all kinds of dust and bugs on it. It's in the way of everything but I don't want to go thru it but yesterday was a good day. I needed to just do it and be done with it.

We went thru the box and found the missing pieces for things and got rid of things that she doesn't play with anymore. She did really good. We got rid of a lot of stuff. The box is now half full with a box of Lego's and a hamper full of stuffed animals. Just in time to, her birthday is in two months and then it's on to Christmas.

How was your tackle this week?

I love my dog

I really do. She is such a great thing. Earlier today there was a lot of thunder and Savie was asleep on the floor. Halley wanted to come outside with me but kept looking back at Savie, she didn't want to leave her in the house alone. You could tell from her face that she was torn. She always wants to be close to Savie and vice versa. Savie lays in her bed and reads to her (whether Halley wants it or not). Tonight Savie was trying really hard not to go to sleep (shock and surprise) and after eating some popcorn, asking for something else to eat and more to drink she got off the couch and laid down with Halley. Five minutes later I looked over and was asleep with her hand on Halley's bed curled up with her.

And Halley was just as happy to have her there.

******edited to add*******
I really wish I could take a picture of it but Savie spilled water on it and it doesn't work. I was hoping that once it dried out and I changed batteries it would be ok but no such luck. So am looking for a new camera, any suggestions would be appreciated.

****edited to add again*****
I only want a Kodax because I have a printer and the software on my computer and don't really want to start all over again.

What a day

Today was a rough one for me at school. I wasn't felling well when I left but I think it was just a bad feeling. That should have been my clue to stay home.

Today B was at school. He hasn't been there very often because they have been out of town but even before that he was a little off when it came to playing with the other kids. The last couple of times he has been at school he has been a little wild, and slowly getting worse. Today was by far, he worst day.

Most days he wants to play by himself, which is fine, and not have much to do with the other kids. We let it go because he is now a big brother (2 months now I think) and hasn't quite adjusted yet. Well the kids were painting on the floor and after telling him several times not to walk thru the area (we were off to one side of the room and not in anyones way) I sent him to time out. Now as I have said before time out is not a big deal (sit, think about what you did, talk to us, apologize and that's it) but he would not go. I walked over to him to walk him to time out when he pinched me. Not ok. I had to sit down with him and hold him to get him to calm down. Once he was calm we talked about why he went to time out.
Later on during circle time he kept talking, yelling, and standing in other kids way of the book and had to be sent to time out. This time S took care of him. This time had to take him outside to talk to him so we could continue with circle time. About 10 minutes after they came back in we were doing something else and he kept running into us with a ball and I asked him to stop. Again he had to go to time out, and this time he pinched me on my neck.

NOT
OK

I took him outside and talked to him. He was just out of control today. When his dad came and picked him up we talked to him about what was going on and what we would like for them to do, at home with him, to reinforce what is going on at school. Just as we were talking he did it again to someone else and dad saw first hand what we had been telling with during the day. I told dad that there was no reason to deal with it at the moment because it would embarrass him but when he acted out he dealt with it. I'm hoping that he gets better even though I have a feeling things will get worse before they get better.

Heads Or Tails

I know I am late with my H O T this week but here goes. This weeks H O T is "How would you change where you live?"

That is a really good question. Since I live in a house that I don't like I would move.I don't want a lot in a new house, not even a new house just newer then what I have now. But what I want is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, with a nice size kitchen/living room/and maybe even an office. A nice size yard for Halley and Savie, a closed in driveway but one like I have now. to leave Halley outside during the day I have to pull my car out of the driveway, get out let Halley out, close the gate and then get back in the car. That is a little annoying when your in a hurry, or it's at night.

But for the town there is a lot that can be changed. We are sorely needing jobs (what place in America doesn't) but I think once the mine opens here we should be ok but then there is an environmental issue. There are just so many things that are bad here but that's about par for the course. I thik every place needs a little something.

Sorry everyone

If I am not posting a lot for the next couple of weeks it's because I am posting here. Head on over and check it out. I will try to keep it current.

Sunday Scribblings #23

This week's prompt is Invitation.

This is a good one since Savie's birthday is coming up in 2 months. I am trying to decide what I what to do for her birthday but I have to make sure that there invitation. I think that is one of the important parts of a party. I've seen some really interesting ones from the other moms, like the E-vite which works for a lot of us since most of us are online. There's handing them out but most of the time I won't remember to have them on me. Then there is the old stand by, mailing them. Is it sad to say that I don't know most of their last names? Or their addresses?

What a day

Today was such a great day. Savie and I did the usual this morning, me sleeping in a little while she spends times with daddy. When we were ready we hit the Farmer's Market like always even though I knew there wouldn't be much there because a lot of them were up at the Blues Festival. It was soooooo much fun. I have been tot he festival every year since we've been here, 5 years now, and it has gotten better every time. This year was just so much fun. There were bigger bands, and a lot more of them. We have just spent the last 5 hours listening to some great bands and dancing. I am so tired that I can barely write this post. I will have to finish it tomorrow.

Night ladies!

Heads Or Tails # 6

This weeks prompt is Recipe and I love looking at recipes. Not that I love to cook mind you but looking at recipes. I have a few favorites but I think this is my new favorite.

Peanut butter balls
INGREDIENTS
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup dry milk powder
1/2 cup honey

DIRECTIONS
Blend all ingredients together (preferably with hands). Roll into balls the size of large marbles and refrigerate. Optional: roll balls in powdered cocoa or roll balls info flaked coconut or dip into chocolate fondue. Eat and enjoy!

These are so good. The last time I made them I stuck them in the freezer and then put them in my ice cream.

Friday night football

I'm half tempted to call this "Friday night lights" but I've never seen the show so I don't really want to go that route. So lets get tot he game

This week's game was a a good one but I was not happy. it started out good but went downhill fast. At halftime it was 28-6 the other team. There were a lot of kids jut running around since the game was just bad. I noticed this girl at the last 3 games i went to, at the first game she had bought a whole box of sugar cubes from the gas station (concession stand wasn't open for this game). Am I the only one that finds that weird? Before that game was over she had eaten at a quarter of it and shared the rest of it with her friends.

But back to the game.

There's not much to tell other then we lost (of course) by a big margin. I think someone told me that it was 49-20, that's just a spanking. There were little blocks, no hits, and the team just looked sad. I'm hoping that next weeks game, an away game, is better then this weeks.

Sunday Scribblings #22

This weeks Scribble is Coffee, or daily addictions if you want. I'm going with coffee since I it's an addiction I have under control, lol.

Most days I have a a cup of coffee at home but the days that I work I have coffee at school. I don't want to have more than one cup in a day especially since I don't eat a lot during the day. Most of the summer I haven't needed coffee so I have only been making half a pot (little does my husband now), because I don't like the taste of day old coffee. I love the smell of brewing coffee, it's one of the reason I go to the coffee shops. But the smell of roasted coffee smells like burning broccoli to me, I don't know why but ti does. I have a whole routine when it comes to making coffee and since I am the one to make it, it has to be done a certain way.
  1. Fill the water (enough for about 6 cups at least, who knows I might want a cup when I get home at night)
  2. Wash dishes
  3. put the coffee filter in
  4. Watch TV
  5. Getting ready for bed I put the coffee in out of the freezer
Hubby has made coffee a couple of times and there is usually grounds in the coffee so he's not allowed to make it anymore. I know this is a bit of a ramble but I haven't had any coffee today, lol.

I am pissed

I don't think I post about some of the kids at school, so I am going to give you a short version of what is going on.
There are quite a few kids at school and for the most part they are pretty good. I know how most of them are during school so they are fine. There are a few kids that are wild but they aren't there everyday. There is one that is just wild and loud, one that snorts because her mother thinks it's cute, and two that tattle on everyone.

Well today all four of them were there. Everything was fine until the one that snorts bit Savie. Yes that's what I said. SHE. BIT.SAVIE. Now I understand that mom is a little out there and there is not a lot in the way of rules in their house (long story and I'm not going to get into it) but that is out of control. She is suspended from school until the biting thing is under control. I am not happy. Thank goodness she barely broke the skin but that is not even the point. About an hour after this happened I saw her run over to anther kid, grab her arm, and make like she was going to bite her to. I stopped her before she could do it. This is the same kid that she did bite about 10 days ago. I, for one, will be happy if this one does not come back to school at all.

I am not happy

I am not happy. I have ACCHCS, where is my health plan thru the state, and I have to renew this month. They sent me a paper saying that I needed this, that and the other. Which is fine, Then they asked me when days and times I was would like to have and when I was avaible. Since I spend most of my days at S's I knew which days would work for me. Did I get those days or even those times? NOt by a long shot so now I have to leave Savie there so I can go deal with this. I just know that I will have to go back. I always do. Wish me luck.

Heads Or Tail

This weeks prompt is Box. What do you think?

Would you buy this?

My friend K would love these. I am not a big fan of crating dogs but this is just ridicules. If your going to do it then do it, don't make their crate an end table.

The Good......and the bad

What a way to start the week. I did a lot of work on my crochet project and am almost done with the bodice of it. (Sorry can't tell you more then that about it until it's finished) Working with thread is a little hard on the eyes for me but it;s worth it for me when I finish the dress. That's the good part for me. The bad? What could possibly be bad about the start of the week? Savie started a fever last night. And a quick one at that. She was fine all weekend long, playing and being her usual self until about 4 pm yesterday afternoon. We were suppose to go to a birthday party in town but I didn't really want to go (bad me I know) and it's a good thing since Savie was burning up at 4. When I took her temp it was 100.2, yes you read that right. 100.2 I gave some Pedilyte and she fell asleep. When she woke up again she was 102, that means we get in the shower!!!!!! It was a long night needless to say.

Today I had errands to run in town so after calling to make an appointment for her, we headed in. She was a trooper. With all the stops I made she was really good, I think the nap she took on the way in helped a lot. So did the one on the way back in. And of crouse she was acting fine when we got in to see the Dr. But she is back on Amoxicilln and sleeping. I am staying home tomorrow from work and have to figure something out for Wednesday. If her fever isn't down then she has to go to K's house for most of the day (not totally happy about that). But she can't be around other kids while she has a fever but I have to work. S needs to go to the Dr so I have to work. Oh well. Hopefully her fever will break and she can come with me on Wed. wish me luck.

Sunday Scribblings #21

This weeks prompt is Miracle's.

  • It's a miracle that my dog survived a javelina attack.
  • It's a miracle that hubby has burned himself more
  • It's a miracle that I have lost weight
Those are the only ones I can think of right now but I'm sure that plenty of others have some good ideas. Head on over and see what miracles they came up with.

Football Friday

I'm hoping this will become a regular thing for me. Since I am having problems with my computer and can't upload pictures for Sky Watch Friday I am going to post about the local high school football game.

Tonight's game was a good one. I was hoping that Savie would go with me but she fell asleep not long after we got home. Oh well I was just going to have to get over the whole thing and walk down there by myself. (The field is only 6 blocks down the street from my house). I changed my pants and got ready to go. Had to make sure that i had a flashlight because there are javelina's and stuff out there. Plus a couple of the street lights are out on some of these streets so who knows what's out there after dark. It was a nice walk down there. As usual I missed the first quarter, I did the same thing last year. When I arrived at the field it was 18-7 Bisbee. Great start, much better than last weeks game against our rivals, Doulgas, where we lost 35-0. After trying very hard to keep the academy out of the endzone we went into the half 24-14 Bisbee. At the start of the 3rd quarter we where down by 3 pts. There were a couple of turnovers that were just badly handled on our part. They used the same play like 5 times in a row, a miss direct with the same players. I hope they work on that next week at practice.
We were looking a little sloppy during the 4th quarter but pulled it out to win 48-28. Like I said, a much better game then last week.

One of the things I love about this town is that so many people know other people and not just enough to say hi but really know them. I don't have any kids in school yet I go to the football games and some of the other fundraising stuff they may have. My thinking is this, if I want the school to be better then it is now when my child goes I need to start helping make it that way now, not when she's in school. Start early and maybe all the problems yo hear about the school will be taken care of by the time your child gets to that age/point.

So what did you do on your Friday? (there might also be Football Monday and Football Sunday, just be warned)

Tackle It Tuesday #18

Button

Today's tackle is something I should have been doing every month. I save every receipt that I get. Since I do the books for his business, that's a lot of receipts, and since I shop to much there are a lot of receipts. Anyways I have a box on the dresser where they are suppose to go and then at the end of the month I'm suppose to file them away. Well for the past 5 months, yes I said 5 months, I haven't done it. I have just let them pile up. Mostly because I just don't have the time. I should have just left Savie at school and come home to do it but in the summer the bedroom is the hottest place in the entire house and turning on the fan in there only makes the papers blow around so it's kinda hard to do it that way.

But yesterday was the day. Hubby was home and could keep Savie busy while I did the receipts. It took me about 4 hours to get most of them put away. I finally did it. Now it's just a matter of remembering to do this every month.

What about you? What are you tackling this week?

Calling all AA mommies

I need a little help. I have been trying to do different things with Savie's hair and I am just not getting. I have no imagination. I did find a couple of really cute sites like this one and this one, but those are all things that I can't do on her hair. Not just because she's so much younger than most of these ladies daughters but because most of the time I don't have the time to do most of them. I need some help finding other moms who do hair. Any suggestions?

Heads Or Tails #5

This weeks H O T is a list of three things and mine will be short and sweet.

3 Things I like to do in my free time, when I have it.

1> Read~ I am a book-olhic. I love to read and have reading withdrawls when I haven't read anything, a book, magizne, anything in a couple of days

2> Crochet~which I am just now getting back to. I took a big break from it but that is going to stop.

3> play with my daughter and my dog~in that order, lol.
