I am sooooooooooo

tired.

I have spent the past week driving back and forth from Tucson, which is a 2 hr drive one way. Yes I know it's crazy to do that 4 days in a row but what we paid in gas is still less then what we would have paid for a room for just 2 nights.

Starting on Monday we, or rather I, got up at 4 am. Yes that's right 4am, before the sun is up, before the birds have woken up, before my dog wants to go out. That is just to early for me. I don't get up until 7, maybe 8 am in the morning. But back to the trip. I get up and make coffee, start making snacks for us, and try to do a little stretching. Around 7 I need to get Savie and hubby up, mostly her so I can get her dressed and do her hair, maybe even get her to eat a little before we hit the road. We get on a the road and make it there and drop him off. By the time we head back for home it's almost 6pm so we don't get home until 8pm and poor Halley has been outside the hole time.

Now if you can just picture the saddest face on your kids when they don't get something or can't go with you, that face they get when their best friend has to go home, yeah that look, times 100. That's the face Halley gave us everyday. Poor baby. So now for the next week or so Halley will be sticking very close to me.

Well today was the last day that we have to be gone for so long. We do have to go back at least one more day next week but that's ok. We know where we are going so it won't be that long to get there.

Well I am trying very hard not to fall asleep but I have to give in now. I will be back. With pictures.

Response to "OMG!!!!!"

Even though I only got one comment to my OMG post (thanks Mom) let me give you a couple of links for Javelina's. This is a good one that shows the habits in Arizona. This one you have to page down to get to the Javelina's and there are other desert animals there to. Enjoy

Sunday Scribblings #99

Tonight's Scribble is about Passion. This is a hard one for me. I am passionate about a lot of things.

I have a passion for my daughter and the life she has.
I have passion for my husband who worries about taking care of us, for children in general, and animals to. Lost, sick, and alone, I feel for them and want to take them home with me.

But most days there is no real passion in my life. I am mostly just here, surviving my thoughts and trying to cover for my lack of feelings towards other. This is not me. This is not the way I want to feel. I want to feel passionate about something, anything at this point.

Maybe tomorrow will be different.

Sky Watch Friday

mountains coming out of NV from my mother's house this past Dec.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I am trying really hard to calm down right now so forgive me if I don't make a lot of sense. Anyone who has ever lived in AZ knows that there is a lot of wildlife around. Coyotes. Bears. Wolves. Mountain Cats. Javelina's. Deer. I know this. I've lived here for 4 years and have seen my share of coyotes and wolves and javelina's. The mountatin is our backyard. All of these animals walk by our house at night, maybe a javelina in the back once in awhile during the day. We try not to go out there when they are around. I don't want to bother them or scare them away. Two years ago my husband did some work trimming a tree for our landlord and left all the brush on a trailer above the house. Every night we watched the deer come down and eat of it. It was so interesting for Savie to sit in the window seat and watch them. I really want to buy a salt lick for them to watch them more often. I love to watch the animals around here. I just don't want them very close to me.

I just went out to close my gate so Halley, my dog, can go out without me having to out with her. I was talking on the phone with a friend and looked back to see the moon when I saw/heard something outside the gate. I turned...........and saw........ a javelina!!!!!!!A big one, no more then 50 yards away from me!!!!!! I screamed, almost dropped the phone and ran (tried to keep my slippers on) back into the house.

It was just to much. I can't believe I was that close to one and didn't know it until it made some noise. I'm just lucky it was busy eating and didn't want to chase after me.

Bad Mommy #2........redeemed

Like I said in my last "Bad Mommy" post I had a bad moment. Savie's favorite baby doll was left at the library. Over the holiday weekend. Alone. (hanging head in shame) But come Tuesday morning we were at the library promptly at 10 am when they opened and went straight to where I thought Savie had left her BeBe. But wait, there was someone else there. Her other baby doll. Her second baby. Do you think my child was happy? She screamed so loud in a near empty library that I was scared.....for a minute. But is well now that both baby dolls are safe and sound.......at the bottom of the toy box.

Tea Party, anyone?

I love my library. It's a great place, so many books for the little ones, a great storyhour and ........a tea party once a month. I love it. I have to remember to bring my camera and take pictures. Lauren, one of the wonderful librarians, does bilingual story hour on Thursday and a regular one on Tuesday's and then once a month we have a tea party (but no stories).

It's a great opportunity for them to practice their manners, to use cups and plates just their size, to be little "big people". The kids have so much fun and it's so cute to hear some of them say "please" and "thank you". And I love to help set up and clean up........... and now I've volunteer to bring the snacks for the kids. And I have no idea what to make for them. I'm hoping that my friend Anna will help me since she is really loves tea parties (are you listening Anna?)

Calling all Bloggers.......

that post pictures. I would like to be able to protect my pictures that are posted here. I know some of you ladies have 'tagged', for loss of a better word, your pictures with your name or something and I would love to do that. If anyone knows how to do it, or a link to go to so I can learn that would be great.

Bad Mommy #2

I think this is going to be a new thing for me.To write out every "bad mommy" experience I have just to make myself feel better (that didn't sound right did it?). If I can get it out of my head maybe I won't feel so bad about it.

So here's the new one. Savie has a baby dolls. One we got almost 2 years ago from a really great lady here in town. Her family does this thing where they buy presents for other people and then have to give it away. It was really nice at Christmas when she got it. Savie named her BeBe, mostly because I think she was trying to say baby but that's as close as she could get. She takes her everywhere, sleeps with it, take her potty, undresses her, everything. She's been to California, the library, and Mexico (didn't anything for that one). I love BeBe, she is a great little baby doll, she sits patiently and listen to Savie when she reads her books. I know what she loves her as much as she does. BeBe looks like her. Simple as that. BeBe is one of the first black baby dolls that I've seen that actually looks right. Not just the dark skin, or the "afro" styled hair with the Kente cloth clothes but she really looks like my daughter. They have the same cute little nose and big beautiful eyes.

And I miss her.

But not as much as Savie.

I being the "Bad Mommy" that I am, I left BeBe at the library on Saturday. Alone. By herself. Without Savie.

Savie noticed this yesterday and hasn't really let it go. I can't get to her until Tuesday and you can bet we will be there as soon as they open the doors to get BeBe. This is breaking my heart, she looks so sad and sulky and close to tears.

I am a Bad Mommy.

this is a picture of the two of them, don't they look so happy?

Sunday Scribbling

This Sunday's topic is sleep.

I have never really slept thru the night.........in my entire life. At least that's what my mother tells me. But I am a not owl. I would much rather do something during the night then do it during the day. Even now I can not go to bed until almost midnight, which is not such a great thing when your child wakes up at 7:30 every morning without fail. But I can get by with 6 hours of sleep.

Now my daughter, she is another story. She is what my father calls "a Ford baby", I'm not totally sure what that means but I know that for her it means she can sleep just about anywhere. We've driven to California several times and she sleeps for most of the trip. Even when we drove to Idaho she slept a lot in the car, which is such a great thing when you have a lot of distance to travel but not so great when it's just the two of us. She falls asleep in bed and wanders all over it. She sleeps the long way over pillows, kicking hubby in the head. (But that's what he gets for sleeping with his back to her, lol.) She is out cold when she's asleep, something that I envy. But I'm guessing she gets ability to sleep from her father.

And speaking of Daddy he sleeps so hard and so loud I don't know how I sleep. He sleeps and snores that's probably why I wait so long to go to bed. There are nights when he snores and the whole bed shakes. It's funny. Sometimes. I wish I could sleep like the two of them, yet here I am, staying up until midnight watching TV and blogging.

It's a wonderful night!!!

As I sit here surfing the web and messing around on the computer, after making 3 batches of cheese muffins, Savie is laying on the floor with Halley using her as a pillow.

Halley is the best dog in the world and, as you can see, Savie loves her to. Photobucket Halley will be 8 yrs old next month and I don't know what I will do when she is no longer with us. She has a bad hip or knee, I'm not sure which, but she follows that old saying about dogs being like their owners. Anyways, when I was pregnant with Savie the last trimester we were worried about how Halley and Jess, my husband's dog, would react to her. But she was fine. They both got in the bed with me when I was in labor and wouldn't leave me until I left for the hospital. When I came home they sniffed and walked away. They didn't really seem to care.
When Savie was a baby and in her swing Halley never hit her with her tail, even though she hits everyone else without a thought (does she really think about it?) And now that Savie is a rough and tumble little girl who would much rather roll around in the dirt then play nice, Halley will just let her roll all over her. I love that Halley loves her and will let her do just about anything to her. Pull her ears, her lips, yank on her tail, she just lays there and takes it until she's she had enough. Then she goes and pouts by the front door until I let her out. What a great baby.

Beautful Scenery

These are for you Michele. PhotobucketPhotobucket

The first one is the road coming into town and the side is the touristy side of town. And in case anyone was wondering just how close I am to the Mexico border here it is. Photobucket

That is the border and it's 10 minutes from my house. We can see it when we go to the grocery store so it's not a big deal but it does look really nice at night when it's lit up at night. It looks kinda like Christmas lights all the time. I drive down Naco Highway at least twice a month and a great lady does my nails. I'll have to post when I get them done, she just had her baby so it will be awhile before I can get back into to see her. But she does such a great job and her designs are so cool that I don't mind waiting. For those moms that love getting their nails done, you know how hard it is to get in and keep the kids occupied and out of the way or just not take them so when I found someone who was ok with me bringing Savie I jumped at it. But I got off topic.

Today there was snow, yesterday there was a sandstorm. I have pictures of that to but they don't look that great. I just love the changes in weather here.

Winter was here!!!!!!!!

yes I know for most of you winter has been around for quite sometime and you can't wait for it to go away but we had a very mild winter here..............until today. We got this Photobucket Isn't that beautiful?? I know, I know "Yeah Kisha, great you got powder, woopeee!" It's ok, I am not a big fan of snow and would not normally be happy about it making an apperance here but it looks so nice when your in the house and don't have to drive in it, especially when it's just a little bit and not feet of snow. PhotobucketPhotobucket That's the road coming into town, yes I live in the mountains but you would never really know it. I went to town and was coming back this way and was getting a litle nervous, after my last CA trip and all, about the snow so I took a scenic route to show you the little bit of snow that we get here. This is what I saw on the other side of the mountain. PhotobucketPhotobucket No snow anywhere. I love that about the area. You can get snow on one side of town but not on the other. It took me all of ten minutes to get from the second picture to the last one, lol.

Well that's our little bit of weather here, this weekend is suppose to be 60 degrees and then back up to the 70's by Monday.

**********EDITED TO ADD****************
It stopped raining/snowing early afternoon yesterday but we woke up this morning to 2 inches of snow, on my car. It's to cold for me to go out there and take a picture so you'll just have to imagine it, lol.

V-day

thank goodness it's over!!!!! I know that sounds kinda bad but you don't know me. This is one of the few holidays (even though it's not really one) that I can't stand. I see no point in forcing anyone to tell me/show me how much they love me on one certain day. That is something that should be felt whenever you speak/spend time with them. I don't need flowers/cards/candy/present to know this. But I have been told, that for the sake of my child, I should do something. My response......WHY?????????

Doesn't letting her stay up late to play with Daddy count? Letting her have a banana for lunch instead of the peanut butter & jelly sandwich she asked for count? What about letting her wear boots when we go to the park? or picking her own clothes out?

I think it does. It shows that no matter what she does or ask me for, that I love her. Even if she does drive me crazy!

IT'S A PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008
I love 5 Minutes for Mom, even though I don't get over there as much as I would like to, lol. They are having a blogging party I tried to get into it last year but I flaked but I will be into it this year. Pop on over and look around, you can find some great other moms sites, stores, cooking sites, and even home based business's. It's a blast and the ladies are so down to earth and fun!!! Can't forget fun!!!!!

Bad Mommy night

tha's right that's what I said. Tonight I was a 'bad mommy'. Dinner-leftovers or maybe some fruit. Did we take a shower-just barely. But we did brush our teeth, with a fight. And bedtime??? Oh that's where the bad mommy part comes in. She went to bed at 10.....pm... All together now...."BAD MOMMY" !!!!!!!

Works For Me Wednesday

I am a sucker for coupons. The only reason I buy a paper on Sunday is for the coupons. I've even have a couple of online sites I go to for coupons. There's CoolSavings.com, which is good but there's not a lot that I can use here. I don't buy a lot of my cleaners in stores and we only have one grocery store here so my choices are limited. But I'm sure that if you type coupons in your search program you'll come up with a lot of other things. I know this is weird but I also mail coupons to my friend in CA for things like diapers (she just had her 3rd baby so I think she needs all the help she can get, lol). Check out Rocks, she usually does this but she is in Africa for awhile so Don't try this is hosting while she's away.

Relaxing Sunday

Today was one of those springs days that you look forward to all winter long. A warm day wiht a nice breeze, plenty of sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. I almost didn't want to go out, but as small as our house is there was no way we could keep Savie in the house and be sane at the same time, lol. So I talked hubby into taking her to the park and playing soccer with her while I broke in my bike, again, so put the bike in the car and loaded up hubby and off we went. Everything was fine until I unloaded the bike and walked over to the gas station to put air in my tires only to find out that the air thing doesn't work. So I put it back in the car and played soccer until the little one was tired, or rather until my stomach started growling. She was ready to go, not! but went along with the plan. We drove downtown and got sandwiches from a really cool little sandwich shop right in the middle of the tourist area and as warm as it was today, there were plenty of them out. Tourist season has officailly started here in town.
It's usually a great thing, they spend a lot of money in town, take lots of pictures, etc but the problem is a small one, to most people. It's parking. This is a town that is in the mountains so everything is on a hill and there is very little parking. But I won't get into that right now, just know that it's one of the few things that irk me about the tourist around here, lol.

Anyways back to our day. We got home and tried to get her to eat but she fell asleep on the way home so hubby tried to put her to bed but no luck, they slept in the living room and I tried to watch the Pro Bowl game but the warmth was just to much and put me to sleep. What a way to spend a Sunday, huh? Playing most of the morning and sleeping all afternoon.

Sunday Scribblings

Every now and then I really look at my fridge. I remember growing up that there was nothing on th fridge, not my artwork from grade school, not interesting magnets, just blank space. Why?I remember wanting to know my pictures weren't on the fridge, why a good report card or even a soccer schedule would have been nice. Looking back now I think I was a little hurt by the lack of things on the fridge. . When I moved out and shared a house there were notes, reminders, stuff like that. It felt kinda good to see something of mine on the fridge.

Now with a child of my own there is an array of things on the fridge, (a shopping list that's suppose to help me), artwork from that week (it's always changing), cool magnets, all kinds of stuff to let her know that she is loved and wanted. Everything at her level is cool, all the boring stuff is up above. How cool am I?

I found this and she's got good stuff. Check out some more Sunday Scribblings.

African American Art

So I was talking to hubby the other day about art class and it got me thinking. Hubby asked me if I thought the teacher was singling me out for a reason and was I getting upset about the subject. I said no, African American art is, to me, art done by an African American.

"well what about art of an African American?"

That's a good question, is art done by an Indian/Hispanic/Angelo/Russian of an African American still considered African American art to you?

50 Book Challenge

Ok I know some of you are hoping that I have finished another book but I have hit a little snag. I am reading "Queen Bee Moms & King Pin Dads" but it's a little hard to follow since she keeps referring to her first book "Queen Bee's and WannaBee's" so I am going to put this one on hold until I can get that book. Luckily I have another book that I've started already, "The Cursed" and it's a good read. Good thing I bought a lot of books when I went to the store closing in Tucson a couple of weeks ago.

Works for Me Wednesday

I, like many other people, love on-line shopping. If I could get my groceries I would. I hate going grocery shopping and almost always end up getting more than I planned and not the stuff I went in for. But here are a few of my favorite places to shop.
One Hanes Place~ has great bras and panties. I'm to big for most of the bra's but the panties are great, especially the Barely There brand.
I've had to start buying my bra's at Figleaves. It really sucks that I've gotten to be so big on top and spend a good $30 on one bra, if I'm lucky.
I've looked up books at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble, mostly to get reviews on books and check prices.

Just something I got from Rocks in My Dryer.
OK I think I've said this before K has a lot of pets. One of her cats just had kittens, I think they're almost 2 weeks old, and Savie loves to pick them up which is fine. Well she has a tendency to pick them up when Smokie, the mother, is in the bed and of course they start crying. So I've explained to her that when Smokie is in the bed she has to put the babies back because she is going to feed them. A perfectly ok explanation for a 3 yr old, right? Well little did I know that this is what would come of my answer. Hubby showed me this when I got up the other morning and I couldn't help but laugh. That is just to cute.

Sight seeing

After looking at Michele's Blog and loving all the pictures she has on there I've decided that at least once a week I will post pictures of my area. I just have a basic camera, nothing fancy so I am hoping that they can be scenic and picturesque as her's but I will try. I may even go so far as to give a little history of it. But that might be pushing it a little for me.

Tacke it Tuesday

ok I will try this one more time. I started doing this meme, from 5 minutes for Mom, last year before I started working but then had to kinda stop because I was just to tired all the time. But I did one today.

It may not sound like a big tackle but it's something that I've been putting off for a few weeks. I cleaned out brush's. Yeah I know it sounds like a simple thing but for my daughter and I, it's a lot of hair. Every time I brush my hair I lose some and same with Savie. There was a lot of hair in the drain when I was finished. I had to soak our brushes, which I did while we were at the library, and then came home and rinsed them out. Let's see if we can do it two weeks in a row. ha ha ha

(oh by the way, I didn't link it because I want to do it a couple of weeks in a row before I link back.)

Monday, February 4, 2008

I almost did it

I was really close, so close. I made a menu plan 2 weeks in a row and pretty much stuck to it. There were a couple of days that I didn't have to cook since we had leftovers and now with leftovers from Super Bowl so I didn't have to cook tonight. So tonight I will figure out what I will be making for the rest of the week.

50 Book Challenge

Well I finished another book. Yeah!!!!! and it didn't even take me a whole month to do. This time around I read "How to talk so your kids will listen......" It was a good read. I took a positive parenting class a few weeks ago, before Christmas and this was one of the books that we used. There was a lot of good stuff in there and I will definitely be passing in on to another parent.

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

Here it is, 4 hours before game time and what am I doing? Trying to clean house before my guests, that I just found out about, come over. I had no plans to make anything for the game since it's suppose to be just the 3 of us. I ha guacamole made, shrimp cocktail and leftover pot pie, that's it. Nothing for another family with a toddler, eat. Oh well wish me luck!!!

****************UPDATED AFTER THE GAME*******************************
Well the game is over and I couldn't tell you who won, lol. We were to busy talking and watching Savie play that we weren't paying much attention to it. But it was not as bad as I thought it would be since we are in a small house and even with just us it's a little crowded and then to add 2 more people plus their little dogs?!?!? But they have two little dogs, a teacup chihuahua (Chile Tapin I think I spelled that right) and a regular one (Apache). Chile is a cutie of a teacup and was of course very timid since she has never seen or met my dog Halley. But they did good. They got down and ate some snacks. Savie finally went to bed about an hour ago, almost half an hour after the game was over.

Black History Month

It should be a great thing. A chance of artist, songwriters, authors, etc to take the front stage but instead I'm pissed. Yes I am one of the few African American in town (there are only 5 of us) and yes I know my history. There is no reason to tell me about why they painted something, what they were feeling, etc I know it so don't preach it to me. Your probaly wondering where this train of thought came from, well let me back up and tell you (I will try to do it without yelling)

There is a Art class taught at the library every sat. and Savie and I have been going since they started this new session, at the beginning of the year. I love it. It's a lot fun. We've done sand and sugar art, "I have a dream" stuff like that. The teacher is a little out there, even for this town, and she has a tendency to talk over the kids heads. I mean it's 3yr old for goodness sakes. The class is for 3-8 yr so I would think that you would want to keep it pretty simple right? So for MLK day wouldn't you ask them what they dream about, what they want to be when they are older, the older kids I mean. But for the younger kids, you know the ones that aren't in school wouldn't you just let them draw whatever they want? Why control it, they just want to draw something. I think that you should let kids draw however they want, if they want a pink horse with a green sky and purple clouds go right ahead. It's their picture so be it. I am not a Helicopter parent. Today's project was "African American Art", a prefect subject for Black history month. But there is no reason to spend 15 minutes asking 3-4 yr old what it is. They have no idea. Am I wrong in thinking that? She showed us some beautiful pictures that she printed here's a few of them.

The teacher asked me if I could help Savie draw something like the second one, really????Really?? She's three for goodness sake I can't even draw like that. And when I told her "No I don't think I can." she looked at me like I had a third eye or something. She is starting to make me not like this class but I will keep going and if I have to get ugly faces then so be it. I just want to let Savie enjoy the coloring/drawing/making things part of the class. There's no reason to push her to make it African American art because as far as I am concerned it's African American art if an African American did it whether it be a painting, a statue, or a sculpture.
Ok I think I am done ranting and raving about the whole thing, please someone say something nice to me.

I am no longer a thief

Hey notice anything different about my blog?? Look really hard, it's something that is easy to see. No? Nothing? I added more mommies to my list. Mommies I've been reading for awhile and some new ones, that I've found from reading other mommies blog. There is will be more, it's just a matter of moving things around on my computer, lol.
